You mean insurance companies in Canada don't have thier politicians in their pocket? Criminal.

Personally I think it's ridiculous. Not having a front plate has nothing to do with my ability to drive nor does it increase risk.

When did this become a moving violation?

Did this change between April and now?

I've always been under the impression it was a moving violation, but that link clearly says otherwise. Anyone able to explain this? If it's really not a moving violation, my front plate is coming off immediately. I'll risk a fix-it ticket, but not taking points for it on a DD.

Lol

"Looks like it is a non-moving violation. It sounds right because I have never seen it as a moving violation on anyone’s driving history. but dude you give the cops more reasons to pull you over. Come on bro, let’s start cleaning your record up ."

I love this guy.

I still don't know why my insurance agent (liberty mutual) said it was a moving violation when i asked them last year.

no front plate, expired inspection sticker, over the limit tint, keys in ignition without driver, and all other bs are all moving violations. pretty stupid if you ask me since it has nothing to do with the way you actually drive. got tickets/warnings for all of these....

Yup, got a ticket for expired inspection and it counted as a moving violation.

My sticker expired 1 month before moving to NH, so I took the risk and let it lapse. Wouldn't you know it, 1 week before moving I pulled up to a stoplight. Up drives a MA cop perpendicular to me wanting to leave the parking lot and is staring directly at that expired sticker while the light's red.

There's too much incertainty in this issue. Just got off the phone with my insurance agent that is now saying that 99% chance it will be a moving violation.

Got a warning yesterday.

Calling RMV, but been on hold for 15 minutes already.

So after around 40 minutes on the phone with RMV, I got the following information: A no front plate ticket is a NO POINT ticket, however, it is up to your specific insurance company policy to increase your insurance or not.

I had to take a driver relearning course because I had multiple moving violations which all consisted of inspection sticker/no front plate offenses. No speeding tickets or accidents.

WTF?! Are you guys serious? I had an expired inspection ticket a couple months back and just paid it. Ticket was given by a meter maid. Guess I better call my insurance agent.

Some of the laws in this state really suck.

Illegal lights should be. I had some ricer behind me a week or two ago with bright purple HIDs slapped in his Civic's halogen reflector housing and the glare off my rear view mirror, despite my rear windshield tint and auto-dimming mirror, was practically blinding.

As for the front plate moving violation thing, I spoke to a cop acquaintance not that long ago who said it is, in fact, a moving violation.

Re: MA Moving Violations

For Massachusetts policy holders, the insurance companies have listed just about every issued citation as being a "moving violation" in order to assign "points" and as a result, can calculate your surcharges for six years.

Jeffrey
