Well if they ban crappy far-eastern HID "upgrade" kits in totally unsuitable parabolic reflectors it gets my vote.

Just done some research....

The 'new' emissions figures quoted in the EU document (sec 8.2.1.1) are actually HIGHER (i.e. more polluting) than our current BET or CAT MOT test for cars.

So with any luck nothing will change in 2012.

As for 'illegal' chipping, even dealers can't tell, so MOT stations have no chance.

The new visual inspection may bring up the issue of missing primary CATs (if the tester even knows that 335i's have primary cats tucked up by the turbo's) but they'll see the secondary cats in the usual place, and the car will pass at the current limits OK with primary cats missing.
