Blackberry stereo gateway - works with iphone

The blackberry stereo gateway can usually be found on eBay for $19 shipped... Also - for the usb to mini cable, ones from kids toys work great because they are REALLY short (3").

I used to use one of these with a BlackBerry Bold 9650 but stopped for these reasons:
- The sound quality isn't as good. There isn't as much bass.
- The music will actually speed up or slow down slightly every now and then. Kinda freaky.
- Having simultaneous Bluetooth connections to both the BMW phone and the BB Gateway would cause my Bold 9650 to crash on occasion.
- Connections weren't 100% reliable. Every so often the two wouldn't pair without a power cycle on the BB Gateway (open armrest, pull plug, etc).

I decided to bypass it and just do it old school with a wire coming out of the armrest.

Ive been using mine for about 10 days without any problems. My car doesnt have bluetooth though so I am not connected to both the car and the gateway. I agree the gateway doesnt give as much bass, but its only maybe 1-2db difference. If you have the Logic7 system, then there are different and dedicated bass/treble settings for each the radio, cd player, and AUX input where you can modify the settings. Its probably the best bluetooth streaming device I'd heard, but I havnt heard too many.

I personally dont like that ghetto 3" USB cable I made, and thats all I hate about this setup.

I do have my phone connected to gateway and connected to Bluetooth simultaneously, and haven't experienced the issues others bring up.

I've had successful pairing with BB Bold 9000, iPhone 3GS and a jailbroken iPhone 1 (you need to jailbreak it and load an a2dp enabler from the Cydia store onto it to enable the Bluetooth audio profile.

Tzu - I love the retractable stereo audio cord. Great use of space! Where did you find it? I can only find in mono.

I actually dont like it in that setup. I find it bulky. The gateway doesnt move beyond the velcro, so I'd like to make a short 1.5" audio cable.

yes it works with droid, bb , iphone 3g, iphone 4 but skips on EVO 4g for some reason. These are the phones i tried so far

I LOVE THIS THING and got it from ebay for 22 shipped, also got a retractable mini usb charger from ebay for 2 bucks so no clutter, now only if i could find a 3 inch audio cable.

Just got mine set up today and got to try it out on the drive to work. Gotta say, I'm really impressed. I'm using mine with the HTC Incredible and the Power Amp Music App, which has EQ functions that really help the sound.

As for the cables, I managed to source a 4" USB from an old MP3 player and got a self rectracting 3.5mm cable so there is minimal clutter.

Do they have one that works for Android Thnderbolt?
I have a 2009 335d with ipod interface.
I get Pandora on my phone with no problem but
I hooked the jack for the ipod to the earphone jack
on the phone, and set to AUX on the BMW side, but I cannot
get sound.
Am I doing something wrong?

This product seems to be better and the reviews I have seen claim the audio quality better than a direct stereo plug connection. I am going to buy one for my Droid X.
