Anyone get their car tinted around here? (KOP Area) I am ready to make the jump and get the tint on, and I was wondering if you guys already did it or not (MHolmes, bludgeon29, PnkFlyd (my favorite group!!!))

If so, let me know how you made out and if you are happy.
Thanks!

Auto Truck Outfitters tinted my 335, and did a great job. Before this car, they also tinted my Yukon Denali. Real nice guys, with a ton of experience too. Check em out

www.autotruckoutfitters.com

They're in West Chester, right after you cross Route 1. A tiny drive from KOP but worth it. I got 35% all around for about $300

I did get mine done, but I had it done at the dealership before I picked it up. I forget the name of the guy that did it, but he came out to the dealership. I can get his name and number for you, if you like.

has anyone had problems getting their car inspected with their windows tinted darker then 70%? I want to get 35% but not if I'm not going to pass inspections.

Nope. I had 20% on another car and it passed OK. I've got 35% on now, and i dont anticipate any problems.

This should not be of concern. I asked about that to several guys, and they can not fail a car by inspection. The (conflicting) tint laws are to be enforced by police only.

So, yes, you can get a ticket, but your inspection can not fail.

At least that is what I was told......

I am going to TRY and get there tonight after I pick up my car from inspection (never got one done). So I will pick up my ride at the dealership, and I am going to shoot down there.

35%..... I was thinking of doing that, but is it too dark? I want people to see me if I wave them on at a 4 way instersection, but I want the sun protection and details of my interior somewhat obscured from a distance. Plus, I want the classy look - not drug dealer look.

I am sooooooo torn with what % to go with. I have poured over all the tinting threads, and am totally torn. Are you happy with 35%?
Your thoughts? Any pictures of your car available?

Incidently, I have black interior.

So to keep this factual, here is the PA law on window tinting, it does not give a % visiable of any sort. It says that you can not put a sunscreen such as tint on any of the front windows that does not allow you to see into the car. Typical of most PA laws it allows for the police to interpert it the way they want.

http://www.dot10.state.pa.us/pdotfor.../chapter45.pdf

I too heard the the max without having a problem in PA is about 25% block of light. But it is up to the police at the time. All the tickets I have heard being give for this was: One because they pulled someone over and the person gave them a hard time so the cop wrote them up for everything they could. Or becuase the cop pulled them over for one reason and it was not valid so they wrote them up for tinting.

Here is everything you ever wanted to know about Tinting in PA someone put together for all us drivers

http://www.berksweb.com/users/dmv/tint/

Use it at your own risk, as I said PA laws are open to interpretation, usually a magistrate who's salary is paid for by your ticket.

Now my van has all the windows behind the front seat tinted to 90% you can not see inside unless you put your hands up to the window, and it was factory installed. According to the law this is not allow, but never had a problem.

I have 30% on my car, and so far, so good. Also, I think that it is classy looking. Not too dark, but not too light. Just perfect, for my taste.

I've got a black interior as well and 35 is the way to go. You can still see in during the day, but at niight it'll be a bit harder. Not a ghetto drug dealer look at all. Very classy, you won't be dissapointed.

I have 20% on the back and 50% on the front for my other car.

Anyone else recommend any tint shops?

I am thinking to go to this one that some has recommended here.

www.autotruckoutfitters.com

Anyone who has been to any shops (the last year or so), how are they holding up right now?

Thanks

By the way, black interiors do tend to make your tinting look darker than it actually is.

Vice versa with the cream/beige interior.

I am going for 30% back and 40% front.

Yes, PA laws suck.

Steve at Bimmerworks in West Chester, PA said that if you're pulled over roll down all your windows and turn the inside light on. The police want to make sure they can see you when they're approaching the car. If you do this, you usually won't have an issue. Bimmerworks also has a good guy for tinting. I don't have his info yet, but I'm going to get my orange turn signals done soon with a tint.

Don't go to Auto Truck Outfitters. I had 3 of my prev./family cars done there (at same time) 2 yrs ago and they f'ed up the job on every car. There were pieces of felt caught up under the tint, bubbles, 2 piece rears, etc. They basically told me it was normal and refused to fix the issues. Stay away. Go to Shades of Gray or some other place.
