Your car was sold to you as a cpo?

If so, how could they flag a car for a warranty violation, resell it as a cpo (never telling you at the time it had a flagged warranty) and then try to stick you for what someone else did?

Total bullshite IMO

I did get a great price on it. I even called bmw to verify by vin that it was still a cpo. They told me yes, never mentioned that it was flagged for any issues. The problem is I have no record of making that phone call.

This is like pulling teeth. Something does not sound right here... There must be more to this story then the OP is sharing.

Look, I have never purchased a CPO'd vehicle, but I have been around the business enough to understand how it works. When you purchased the vehicle was it represented by the seller as a CPO'd vehicle? If the answer to that question is "yes" do you have documentation e.g. price sheet, sales contract etc that would substantiate that it was sold to you as a CPO'd vehicle? If you do not have written documentation have you at least contacted the seller about this issue?

Both the male and female pins are damaged. The male pins on the DME itself are pushed back into the DME, the pins that slide into the harness like the picture shown are bent up. I didnt know I could order them through tischer, I will go take care of that now. So you are saying I should be able to split the DME open?
How can it be CPO without coming from a BMW dealership? I think there's a good liklihood of fraud from the seller, if he said it was CPO, but was knowingly flagged against warranty work.

I'd be calling an attorney. You shouldn't be out of pocket for anything, including any warranty work that would otherwise be allowed. That should all be the Salesman's buck.

The independent shop sold the car as a cpo because the cpo warranty follows the vehicle regardless of who owns it. If a bmw dealer takes ownership of a cpo, they must re cpo the car prior to selling it. this is not the case if an independent dealer is selling the car. I called and asked bmw based on the vin if the car had a cpo warranty, they told me yes.

UPDATE - I was able to pull the pins out of the DME with a set of pliers. I purchased replacement pins for the wiring harness from BMW, replacing all of the damaged pins from the previous owner. Everything seems to be working now, thanks for all the help!

How far in are the pins on the DME pushed in?

If about half way, you can use a needle nose plier to pull it back out. I've done it before, not a big deal.....as for the pins in the harness, I'd buy it from Tischer like someone had mentioned.
