A lot of people (including myself) find that going back to the factory system feels better than the DCI especially in traffic. As Mr.5 says unless you are doing a one-time pass down a drag strip then the factory intake will give you more consistency.

Both have the exact same engine (n54/55) including air-box. Whats up with the attitude?

I could show you two graphs that are the same power levels as proof LOL As you said most of the tests are done by the intake manufactures. The factory box will also withstand heat in the engine bay a lot better. Anyway, another discussion for another thread. |

[QUOTE=Imperator;8646348]Is it possible that reading comprehension is not your strong suit? The car is a 135i.. it has a different air box.
Ok genius look at the airboxs, the only difference in the 135i is the sound muffler which some newer 335i's have. If the only contribution you can have in the discussion is to point out the fact that you don't know jack stay out of it this is for bigboys not fanboys. I asked valid questions and requested valid information, I have been on this forum for several years so please excuse my inability to believe everything told to me. Hahaha. Slowly but surely, this community will begin to wake up and see the light:
* Stock airboxes are generally well designed and provide much more consistent results. This is true for most Euro cars. * ECU reflash is the way to go. ( I know people would love to argue all day and night on this, but they are in denial...) Peace fellas!

I really thought the airbox design was different between the cars like it is with the N55. I wish I could scan the dyno printout that I received from Cobb but it left off the AFR plot on the tuned run. I made a later pass but that plot is still on their shop computer.

I would agree that a heat soaked vehicle would be better off on stock intake, however going 80 MPH, its possible to have different results.... keyword possible. In the sake of bouncing back and forth I will just agree to disagree. |

You're right, the stock air box might be able to get the power, but the turbos have to work a lot harder. It's a fact. I've done the logging.

Why do you use STD and not SAE, just curious as it yields the most power of the few dynojet readings??

I can post SAE if you like...it was only like 5 whp differnt if I remember.
The car we dynoed was bone stock. The reasons it is better than a piggyback have already been stated. Thanks guys ~Cicio |
