I also sent a PM on youtube but have not gotten a response back. I hope it's not going to be that expensive.

Okay guys.
Shall I negotiate a group buy with ASSIST? I know him in person. This exhaust is made exclusively for this shop by Tanabe. I guess it's still under development and they are doing some tests now. ----- I will get in touch with him today. I wanna "ASSIST" you all because I've got a lot of helpful advice from you guys here in this forum. It's my turn ----- [Edit] It's not by Tanabe. Sorry for wrong input. Just relax!
I should be hearing everything from him soon. Quote:
Japan is one of the most expensive country in the world. Otherwise, I myself don't have to stick to this forum in order to obtain information about cheaper-priced stuff. We have also been causing the hollowing out of domestic industry due to excessive outsourcing to China or other Asian countries. Sorry for off-topic. |

Was able to talk to Mr.Takazawa at ASSIST Kyoto today.
Actualy he is very interested in overseas trade but he has also got upset about sudden inquiries from overseas. As you see, he is not good at English (me, either) and he is using some translating software. From now, I'm gonna be a single point of contact until it's released. 1) Name of Product LAPTORR Exhaust System by ASSIST Kyoto 2) Model Compatibility E90 w/ 6-cylinder engine (323i, 325i, 330i pre+post LCI) 3) ETA At first they planned to release by the end of 2010 but they are still working on it to improve the exhaust note by trial and error. They are having a final prototype by this weekend. If everything goes fine, they will start production immediately. The official release date will be around the end of February. 4) Price (exc. shipping) Not less than JPY 200K, maybe around JPY 250K (ea.) They are positively thinking about the group buy request. 5) Others He said he has confidence in their know-how for creating good sound. He personally hates low-pitched exhaust note of the current BMW models so he has designed this exhaust system to give E90 NA models crisp and high-tone note like E36/E46 M3. ASSIST itself has a lot of experiences on the racing and they are now taking part in "Euro Cup (Japanese ETCC)" with their E92 M3. Will keep you posted. |

It would be cool if it was around $1500. Well that's a buzz kill.

Unfortunately Japanese yen is strong agaist the dollar now. 250K JPY sounds reasonable to me. Hahaha!! Here in Japan, the imported exhausts like Eisenmann or Supersprint are over 400K JPY (= about 5K USD). This price includes X-pipe. He said they have their own recipe on their X-pipe for better sound. Will post the pics later in this week. |

Hahaha... I was ready to hear that most of you would be out from this deal.
As I mentioned earlier, Japan is one of the most expensive country. Mine is E92 335i, not M3. But the price was over 8 million JPY including tax. It's almost 100K USD. Shocked, huh? I was also shocked when I saw the price tag in the US. (I lived in NY before.) I was seriously looking to buy BMW in the US and bringing her back to Japan. How many guys left now? |

If only I can just get the muffler. That would reduce the cost in shipping alone by alot.
