This is another run we did in 4th gear. The car had obviously not adapted to the latest flash as it had only done 25km's and it overshot its boost target. Notice the increase in torque with slightly more boost and the knock event at 5400rpm. I insisted a 4th gear run at the specific dyno as the rollers are relatively light and the car didn't seem to be loading properly in third. That ladies and gentleman is 526lb ft of torque.

At this altitude the turbos are spinning a extra 2.5psi worth to overcome the drop of barometric pressure so this is the efficiency level one would see at the coast at around 22.5psi worth of boost.

CRAZY! is this pump gas? What did AFRs look like?

If you held 450lb-ft to redline that'd be 600whp

If you held all 524lb-ft to redline that'd be 700whp

Impossible I know but one can dream right

I think we will be surprised with the sea level dynos we are going to see with these. I reckon 500whp is a walk in the park with race/meth.

WOW awesome numbers George! I look forward to more numbers as your flash learns more and more. I experienced larger gains from the procede when I dumped some 104 in the tank. It had never learned above 14psi...dont ask me why. Im not at that level yet...Once I dumped 104 in I saw 16psi; I thought this would go back down to 14psi or so when all of the 104 was out of the tank but 2 refills of shell 93 later and still 16psi! How long did the install process go. Im getting quoted at like 12-14hrs at a BMW indy shop. Seems a bit long to me...

12-14hrs sounds about right. Its a very frustrating job so a tech that is on a salary will obviously take longer to do the job. I think there is a lot of time to be saved if you do not drop the subframe which must be a good 3 hours of the time they quoted you. We did not drop it and even though I am RHD with a stearing column in the way we managed to do the job.

I'm assuming when you said delta, you meant whp......lol. Because if you gained 442 hp just from upped TTs, then I'm willing to sell my kidney and get a set.......lol.

Nonetheless, nice numbers!

Just curious, is it because you guys haven't tuned the car in higher rpm yet and that's why the tq/hp curve dropped off dramatically? Or is it because you adjusted the boost to have it taper like you mentioned, or both?

TIA

Its a HyperPower dyno made in South Africa. The 374 is the delta before turbos and 442 after. There is easily room for more boost and a ton more timing with race fuel so making 475 at this altitude is a walk in the park. The gains of these turbos seem to be the same as stock when you go from .7bar to 1bar cause it seems the efficiency range starts around 19psi.

Boost taper is the cause as well as a experiment with the vanos. We still working on the high rpm gear change logic with the flat power line.

It seems valve timing is the only thing that's not 'tuned' by the top tunes out there.

I've always wondered if there would be benefits from simple adjustments of valve timing. Much of the stock VVT mapping is to help with emissions/fuel economy, so what if we were to disregard that and only focus on performance?

So if I just got my m3 rear subframe bushings and quaife lsd in the mail...do you think if I waited and got the turbos the labor would be cheaper to get it all done at once?

My tuner is able to alter the Vanos maps. There might be some power left in the cam timing by BMW. We will have to see on this one.

I really dont know a lot about installs, i know theory and physics. I asked a simple question. I dont know why you have to be an ass in every response to my question. I am trying to save as much money as possible while putting this car together in a quick manner. Maybe it was a dumb question, im sorry I dont know it all, but these smartass comments is only childish.

your LSD and bushings are in the rear, turbos are up front...can't see how you could save any money there doing them at the same time..

I knew that they were in opposite sides but he(George) said dropping the subframe. I didnt know what he meant by that and if I help save me money on the install. Im sure its gonna cost me 1000 for the lsd and rear subframe bushings and another 1200 for the turbos. Thats a lot of money to me...I was just looking to cut some of that. I am by no means an expert and I am looking for as much help as I can get. Thanks dzenno. I appreciate your input.

You might save money by telling your tech that you giving them all that work to do and he should discount you somewhat so maybe you will save a few 100.

How does one procure the RB turbos? How much do they cost?

Np...I agree with George in asking them to give you a package deal as they'll be doing so much...FYI, cars have a front AND rear subframe...your bushings are for the rear subframe...front subframe doesn't have to be lowered for the install but it's a lot tougher to do without lowering it due to very tight space there

I believe Rob is close to being 'caught up' and is taking orders for more with not much of a lead time. Not sure if the $2899 intro price is still active.
