The 95/98 octane in HK is too high, even for our cars. Recommended octane rating from the manual states 91. Our fuel economy is worse than global average because of it.
I can only imagine what 95/98 octane does to cars like Honda and Toyota which are designed to run on 87 *only*. |

My personal hunch is questioning whether there really is a difference to where you get the gas. The price between the different gas stations is fixed between the so-called competitors (Thanks to the lack of anti-competitive/combine/cartel law), so price-wise, I don't see much difference. I go to Petrol China only because I get a discount card from there.
Quality-wise, it's really hard to say. The only way to confirm is to conduct an experiment. Say I fill your car with gas from X brand, and then fill it with Y brand (but with the same octane-rating). I won't tell you which gas station or brand it is and see if you can tell there is any difference performance-wise. I suspect for most drivers, they would'nt be able to tell the difference. But for you guys, can you tell the difference? |

I use Shell Fuel Save for my 323i since it's new, and it's now 28xx km on the clock.
Mainly run on highway with AC on. Approx. 12L/100km. BTW, I discover the gear box always maintain at low gear with high rev thus I've to push up the gear manually... I feel strange in this issue! |

I just filled up a full tank from empty on my usual Shell VPower. The cost was $960!
![]() I think I will start using Fuel Save! |
