Yup, I didn't want 3" specifically because XI AT is such a clusterfuck when it comes to fitting anything in it.

NM - I was thinking of the metal plate around where the DPs meet the midpipes.

Cool, it sucks because techinically you just have to cut a little piece off or bend it like you stated but I've done a couple Xi's before and I just found it easier to remove it.

[edit] oh wtf this?? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...43&postcount=1 -- no, that was def not removed, and is it even OK to remove it? Seems like it.... well..... shields from the heat.
As long as there is no electrical wiring around, it is safe to remove.

Pseudo, the link you posted is the wrong shield. This shield is right where the DP's mate with the midpipes. It is held on with 3 7mm screws.

Ohh -- yes ok that's the one that I thought we were talking about in the first place. Yep - this one we spaced out with washers, since it was the first suspect. Figured it should be clear - there's a few mm's of clearance there now.

Maybe I should remove it and see if it improves things...

if it's not contacting, then you don't need to remove it. I have seen the midpipe hangers rattle before.

No... I had an AA exhaust for a while on the car, now THAT was drone. It was also consistent with RPMs, and I could easily replicate it. The vibration isn't ... well, it IS when I hit bumps or under hard acceleration.

I would check with Andrew from AR, he may know what this could be off hand, considering they have built/and installed more than any dealer has.

I would just check anything loose first just to make sure you dont have something rattling onto the DP's then work your way from there.

Good luck!

Some people might, ahem, enjoy that. I wouldn't consider that an issue.

Thx for your replies guys. I have heat shield still in there, but we modified it by screw a little bit. Initially it was touching dps and i heard metallic sound. Thinking of removing it now. My setup is the following: XI, 6at, procede v5, DCI, AR cattless, stock catted midpipes + x pipe (still cant figure out why my car came without resonated x pipe, which looks like bmw perf x pipe!), 335is mufflers. I will probably order stock x pipe with resonator. Hope this will help somehow.
