Your opinion on stretched tyres is just that, an opinion. Pretty random to come into a thread about stretched tyres and post a pic of the "stretch tyre anti-christ". That said, I know with a powerful car like yours you need all the rubber you can get but saying you don't like the stretched look doesn't really help the OP.. |

IF I was racing the car or drove it as a DD I would strongly consider going with wider spec tires, but my E90 is merely a toy. As in I drive it leisurely, and don't really drive it hard at all. That being said, based on the type of driving that my 330i gets, popping a bead is unlikely.
Furthermore, there are tons of people that run stretched on DD and have no problems at all. In fact, my friend has been running stretched blizzack winter tires on his e90 as well for the last 3 winters, and again no problems (I live in a place where -40 is everyday for us and we see over 150cm of snow every winter) Like I said in my original post, I don't really care hearing how "unsafe it is" as I know that there is some risk involved but the reward is sure worth it. bmroxm5: there's no "show us your Stretchedwheel/tyre setup thread"

obviously the more stretch, the less protection to your rims. But as an FYI (we're all here to learn aren't we) a little bit of stretch can improve handling, this is due to the reduced flex in the sidewalls. OP if the car is a 'project' consider wider rims please! 9.5 front and 11inch rear 8.5/9.5 is merely 'ordinary' |

i know a little stretch can help handling. 225 on an 8.5 rim is probably all the stretch i would ever be comfortable with myself. on my xi i am either going with 18x8 or 18x8.5 square setup. either 225/40s or 235 40s on the 8" rim. 235/40s or 245/40 on the 8.5.
not sure what i want to do yet but considering i got my 328xi as a daily driver/winter car i wont be lowering it. im picking up these rims/tires for a summer setup and will be using the stock 17s with all seasons in the winter. i want good handing and since i will not lower the car the 245 will go along way to fill out the wheel well being 0.75 inches taller then stock

Hey I have seen around here in Dallas that there are a good number of sports cars where they do the opposite of stretch. They are low profile tires that looked wider than they should be so it has a "plump" look to it. They stick out from rim about 1/4-1/2 inch. I don't have pics but I have seen it on corvettes, 370 Z's, porches. Have you guys seen this and what's your thots?

My previous background is 05+ mustang GT's and that crowd is asking how to cram a 275 on an 8.5 and other stupidity of that nature. There are a few guys running nice fitted JDM/German wheel setups in that community but they are a rarity. |
