Insane! I love what GM is doing as of late with the product.

I am glad they went with ZL1 and not Z/28. I never understood the logic of putting the Z/28 nameplate above the SS. It completely would have screwed up the model order in Camaro history as the SS was always above the Z/28. Anyways, I think it looks ok, not a 5th gen camaro fan though.

The ZL-1 will have the magna-ride as well as Brembo 370mm front/365mm rear brakes. They also said that they managed to offset the weight gain of the S/C and magna ride with C/F parts and lighter wheels. That means it should come in around 3,800-3,900lbs.
Pricing they are targeting the GT500 of course, which bases at $48K.

Well, I would still rather mod my BMW as anyone can have one of these but damn... The GT500 and the ZL1 are the best performance options in the $50k range and very little has to be done to make 600+HP on those engines.

Yeah the new GT500 with the aluminum block and SVTPP is turning out some crazy lap times. Not just a straight line monster anymore. Sounds like Chevy is going to work on the handling of the Maro too, so this'll be an interesting comparo.

Amen bro! I've never been a fan of the Camaro. I was glad to see them go, but then GM (General Malfunction) brought them back. Even with their so called retro whatever look, I'm still not impressed. They're just late in following Ford's lead. I'll take my Stang over a Camaro anytime as I'll never buy a General Malfunction product ever again. Owned Pontiacs and Chevys before and always had mechanical problems with them so never again. I haven't had one major issue with my Stang ever since I bought it new in 2005. Anything from General Malfunction is a piece of junk in my book.

Wow! You really dislikes Camaros! Sounds like sour grapes afoot here. I understand though, the 2002 Camaro SS trounces the 3 year newer 05 Mustang GT at the track. Thats why you're glad to see them go. We get it.

funny that the original ZL1 probably put out more HP than this one.
a little tuning and that will change. god I just wish they made the Camaro smaller and lighter weight......NO REASON FOR SUCH A LARGE VEHICLE CHEVY!!!! damn get your act together. that being said, a '69 ZL1 is still one of my dream cars.....and only a dream, no way i'll ever own one "The entire car carried the full 5-year/50,000-mile warranty and was fully street-legal. With the factory's stock dual exhausts and tires, it turned low 13s; headers, slicks, and tuning got it into the 11.6s at 122 mph. Chevy never built a quicker production car." see here for more info:http://musclecars.howstuffworks.com/...camaro-zl1.htm my uncle used to race one in '70, he was NHRA champion that year in his class w the car. My aunt still has 2 original ZL1 heads off his racecar that should be worth some major coin.

No! It's you who doesn't get it. I don't give a flying shit whether a 2002 SS trounces my 2005 at the track because I don't race. I bought my 05 GT because it reminded me of my Grandpa's 1965 Mustang Fastback which I wish I could've had after he passed away, god rest his soul. Yeah. Now I understand you. You just don't get what sentimental value means.

Kind of like the new stang... I was talking to my bro and he was talking so much crap about the 2011 stang and I looked at him like??? HUH... The car is AMAZING it would destroy you.. 36k for almost everything that my 135 doesn't have and more.... I just can't see myself driving a mustang... Wouldn't go well with my style, but man it was hard leaving the dealership without saying I WILL TAKE IT.....

Sentimental? If thats your definition of sentimential you are a hypocrite. Because in a flash you look like you'd trade your 'sentmental' 05 in for another car. It also seems from this post you're a little more concerned with hp than you claim to be. Hypocrite on several different levels there. -------------------------------------- heres a post of yours 4/21/10 Sorry, but I'm not the typical Mustang or Camaro buyer. I have a 2005 Mustang GT in addition to my 2010 335i so I've got the best of both worlds (good ol American muscle & luxury/performance). I bought my Stang brand new and didn't even consider getting rid of it when I shopped around for my 335." With the 2011 coming out soon, I'm even considering trading my 2005 for this badass pony." There are threads posted about Audi, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus etc, etc, etc., you're just looking in the wrong section. Usually that stuff is in the General BMW or General Automotive talk, but since the OP compared a 3 series M3 to the Mustang that's why it's in this E90/E92 section. |
