It could be that there is a large storm in the Atlantic and they are waiting it out. I saw a Discovery show about supertankers and many times they would wait in the channel for the weather to clear before heading out.

Just a thought...

Update: Yup! I think they are waiting out a storm. Check out this website: http://www.oceanweather.com/data/ and look at the Northern Region data. There are 35-40 foot waves just outside of the channel so the ship is probably waiting it out and keeping your babies safe.
Mr Milo, good call! Do you have a car on this ship?

Glad I could help! It's also nice to see those Discovery shows are good for something after all.

Yeah, they could go that way but the arrows are pointing that direction so who knows how quickly the storm will get there. Just think of it this way.... They are taking really good care of your Baby.

It's nice see that I'm not the only one this crazy about my car. I was all ready to order and then these March production changes hit. It doesn't seem that I can get a Feb. build so I'm holding off until I get clear details about the changes. I haven't even ordered yet so think about my delay.

True.. you have a major point! Is there a way to have an eta on when that storm will simmer down? Based on your profile, looks like you're "looking for a E93". That's what is on that boat. I'm waiting for my 335IS vert in BSM and Coral Red.

I can only hope that the knowledge you acquired during Shark Week doesn't come into play here.

I've been on enough flights where the captain will say that they can make up some time in the air to compensate for delays on the ground, so I'm hoping they can do that on the Triton Leader...

I'd better go poke around that March-production thread. I had only been thinking about 6NR and March...

I think you just have to check back and see but if I remember correct the show said storms could be 1-4 days. Let's hope for one or less.

Yup, I'm hoping for a E93 328i with Deep Sea Blue, Saddle and Bamboo, although if the Sport pack is really out and I'm forced into a M-Sport it might change things or even push me into a E90.
I just want an answer on these changes.

I'm pretty sure it was the super tanker show but can't remember. The boat sure is circling like a shark week show.

You make me think of that Seinfeld show "if the pilot can go faster to compensate, why don't they do that all the time?"

Yeah, I thought the 6NR was the only change too but then I got news of the sports package removal and more.

Sorry to get off topic, hope your cars are on the way soon.

Looks like it finally broke out of that holding pattern and is heading southwest!

Also, info was last received 7h ago, so it seems like it's now far enough from shore into its voyage that we will no longer get updates on that site until it nears Panama...

Whoo hoo!!!! Yeah baby!

Good catch eek, getting that visual of it moving southwest. It looks like the eta of its arrival to panama has remained at 02/28, thats a good sign. It's now just a waiting period... again!

But what will we do while it's in the middle of the ocean? I'll keep digging for ways to find status -- there are several members of my family that work for related shipping companies...

Maybe I'll start to order accessories and obsess over that.

Problem is, I've pretty much have bought all my accessories already for now. BSM color matched reflectors and an E93 wind deflector. My wheels are waiting in the wings and the rest can't be done until the car gets here. i.e. KW version 2 drop and tint.

Um.. we can take a measurement and scale the distance on the computer and figure out where it is day by day? ha!

Nobody else is on this boat? Maybe it'll be easier for our cars to get thru the VPC since they are Priority 1 - customer sold cars.

No luck getting any further tracking info on the Triton Leader. It doesn't look like it participates in whatever program that makes it show up on SailEX either, so we may be SOL on its progress until it gets closer to the Panama Canal, currently scheduled for Feb-28. I'm surprised there aren't more people in this thread... my CA said he's got 5 customers' cars on this ship.

waiting waiting waiting... I just bought a new house, I waited for 3 months for it to be built so I can move in. Now I just replaced the waiting period with my car! Come already! I must say, I'm still a bit bitter that I should be on the Don Juan, which is already through the Panama Canal on its way here!

There has to be more people on this board that are on this vessel? If not, maybe since ours are considered priority 1 - customer sold that ours will fly faster through the VPC and into our hands?

Hah! I wish... with my luck, it would be "priority 1 - already sold, so we can take our time with these and get the unsold ones onto the lot faster"

Well, it's at least 5 more days until the Triton Leader gets close enough to a coast to begin tracking again. I wonder if we'll ever lose tracking again after it leaves the Panama Canal, or if it'll be close enough to the coast to track all the way up to Port Hueneme?

I think it loses tracking. When the Don Juan hit the panama canal, I checked to see where it was and the website said it was "out of range". If our ship stops in San Diego, I should go take pics of it.

I guess it'll be a few more days before we find out whether that little weather-delay actually delays the ship's arrival. Does anyone know if shipments of bmws ever get dropped off in San Diego? It wouldn't make much sense to me, since it's not that far away from Oxnard anyway (relative to the rest of the south-west coast).

I don't think they ever get dropped off in San Diego. I was wondering the same the first time around when I got my first car. I see a bunch of Audi's and VW's at the port in SD but never any BMWs.

Judging by the tracking for the Don Juan, the ship appears back on the marinetraffic site as it nears Panama, and takes about 3 days to make it through. After that, it leaves tracking range and only re-appears 7 days later as it gets near Port Hueneme.

Looks like our cars are near Puerto Rico, Anguilla and the Virgin Islands. It makes me a little jealous that she's seeing a part of the world I've never seen... sort of. Looks like it should make Panama on schedule on Monday.

Interesting. I guess it's not stopping in Georgia then. It's getting close!

Congrats guys! Good to see that it's still on schedule. Looks like I got very lucky too. A dealer located a car for me and is trucking it up now. I'm picking it up Sunday.
