This is the crap that pisses me off with landlords. They'll try and screw you over in a second and hold you to every single letter in the lease, but if they mess up they claim that even though the lease is wrong it doesn't matter. Now not all landlords/rental communities are dicks but most are.

I lived in my old apartment for four years. I was the first person to move into the unit and kept it immaculate (when I moved out they had to do 0 repairs. No repainting, no new carpet, nothing). They did something that really pissed me off though. During the 3rd year the property was sold to a new owner. The old owner, and lease signed with them, stated that rent was due on the 5th. Well, the new owner decided that rent was due on the 3rd and when I went to pay on the 5th they tried to asses me a late fee. The two days didn't really mean anything to me but because of the principle of it I fought them on it. I basically told them that I didn't give a rats ass what their policy at other properties was, when they bought this complex they bought all the leases with it, therefore they have to honor my lease. If they want to change the terms they need to make me sign a new lease, which I won't do. They admitted they couldn't make me pay on the 3rd and let it go. Nobody else fought them so everyone else was paying rent on the 3rd but I would stroll on in on the 5th and give them my check.

this, I think people are taking this too out of proportion. Credit card dispute is a wonderfully easy thing.....copy paste that line of text and let them duke it out.

There's no reason to get attorneys involved, or taking to court, or doing anything else. With that line of text you'll win it, and get the money back.. done and done

Already stopped charges. I stopped by the management office on the way to work this morning. I handed them a rent check. I told them I stopped the charges because they were incorrect. They understood.

I showed them the original copy of the Rider. They agreed with my interpretation and said they will give me an answer before the end of today. Not that I am waiting for an answer. I am moving the eff out no matter what.

Rental people are shaddy. They get screwed over by shady people so they think it is okay to screw over the people that are legit just so they can still make a buck. Lame.
