I have a prelude as my daily. Easily one of the best fwd cars i've ever driven and its not even the SH. Im gonna run it into the ground.

Out of that list, I'd go with the prelude. Easily my favorite sub $30,000 Japanese car of the 90's. Hugely underrated and underappreciated. Great handling, quality materials. I'd even put it above integra in terms of fit and finish... overall quality. + the prelude is a rare beast due to its weak sales #s, whereas the integras are a dime/dozen.
just my .02

Saabs area a reasonable option since they depreciate so damn quickly. I am not sure about build quality. You could also look for older Volvo (i think it was an 850), by brother had one that he really likely... you may be able to get an S60 for cheap too.

Am i crazy for wanting this over those bmw of choice??
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/ctd/2232022506.html I just love the turbo/sound of that car. I just hope im not missing out on too much handling. Im getting coilovers/rims no matter what mk4 i get. Anybody here have anything to chip in about any 1.8t mk4 or 1.8t audi |

The craigslist link is dead, but I know there are a lot of die-hard Golf mkIV and probably turbo Audi people out there. I think the mkIV GTI was highly regard by many people as a fun drivers car. I don;t know much about reliability though. It's a relatively light-weight car, so a mkIV GTI will probably handle well (my brother's mkV GTI handles well and is surely heavier). FWD will affect the handling, but I am sure it would still be fun.

ended up choosing this
i know this pic is crappy, here is a link http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...235359658.html 18 inch Rims Tinted Windows ( legal, they passed inspection) - CD player - Power windows, power doors, power locks, all that stuff - moon roof - Sport Shifter/Short Shifter hopefully he doesnt sell it until monday( i asked him to hold it for me) or i will be furious. I looked around for some e36s but there were none in an acceptable condition/style/options i wanted. Cant find gti's at all in my budget. And since it already came with all the mods i planned on doing right off the bat i just decided it was car has a replaced engine btw Last edited by nawky; 02-26-2011 at 09:11 PM.. |

But wait theres more!!!!
Wow i just found a car i actually prefer more for cheaper too. He said the price is negotiable and i hope to bring it down to like 3200(the jetta dude will do 3700 least) -i prefer 1.8t sound(even tho im not a big fan of 4 cylinder exhausts, The turbo spool is too addictive -prefer the looks of the audi but not in this stock form compared to that jetta -1.8t makes power off of mods better(i only plan to do basic boltons nothing serious at all) -AWD Has anybody ever drove both of these? Im about to get something within the next 2 days and i probably wont really be able to test drive it that well because i dont know how to drive stick. Which would you guys choose? http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...234604178.html |

I've had a couple A4 1.8Ts. Great little motor, and if you want to spend the money they can make a lot of power. Personally I would just stick with software or at most a k04 turbo upgrade.
