Now I just have to figure out where to come up with the cash for all the fines, classes, insurance, atty's, etc. Anyone know a good corner I can work?

My son paid close to the 10K with no lawyer, and they didn't impound his vehicle. He's no longer on our insurance ("dump the kid, Harry") and I think he just got his full license back.

dude.. chill.. its not 10k.. did you get locked up? and bail yourself? its just gon cost you your bail money and alot of time f'n wit the court. dont get a lawyer. waste of money and all they gon do is try to push the court dates hoping the police wont show up. if your that uncertain use the oublic defender. or just represent yourself. did you blow under or over .15? if less its still minor. above its pretty heavy... first offense, 3 months suspension on your license. shudnt be that bad. but still ask for conditional license, home to work. they shud give you one but just dont get pull over again. just chill..

I think they give you half a year to pay the fine

Cal trans (community service) is not much

AA is pratically free

The DUI school will work with you on payments

The device to allow you to drive is on payments

If you get a PD, it will be much less than an attorney

JUST DONT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN everything doubles from what I hear

Your insurance will sky rocket, that is if any insurance company will insure you at all. My brother got DUI, and couldn't drive for a year. Plus, he had to find some ghetto insurance company to insure him, for a shitload of $$... good luck

The 10K most people are quoting includes increases in insurance, fees to DMV, hasles for getting to work. Heck, it's not legal for you to drive home unless you get the conditional at your court appearance. An SR-22 ain't cheap, although the coverage levels are.

im sorry to hear man... did you take the blood test? because if you did, and failed, thats pretty much the nail in the coffin. The only thing i can think of is if the cop screwed up on procedure or something... but even then there is conclusive proof "beyond a shadow of doubt" (blood test) that you were above the legal BAC amount... in other words SOL.

In my group of friends there are at least 6-10 dui's some people are on their 3rd, its just plain stupid.... Dont become one of my friends. Good luck with everything.
