LoL! You crack me up bro! Did you try contacting the clown that owns Dinan yet?

glad it all worked out even tho the M4 route would have been a lot more fun lol. I would have gladly donated my AFE intake for that tho

I think it could potentially rub a hole in the hood insulation, Depending of how much you drive the car and how hard you drive it (= more engine movement).

Was your issue ever fixed with the intake?

no it still rubs, it's not bad, it rubs just enough to leave an impression of the ribs on the insulation and the rubber looks a bit shiny on top from it rubbing. not severe enough for a concern but if I start to see any tearing I'll give them a call. and your right Dan would probably say that. LOL. looking foward to seeing the pics of the modification.

Thanks,
Jorge

Pictures after my lid mod

Here you go guys, the lid finally snaps in after adding a little more groove for the clip to sit in. The factory box lid has very pronounced spots and it never failed so I applied it to the Dinan System. The result is a nice, snug fit.

Before

After

Reinstalled all clips

Engine bay

You want it even though potentially it wont fit and rub a hole in your under hood insulation?

yeah that looks exactly like mine, I have had it for about 1.5 years still no tearing so I'm hopeful it will be ok. it sucks but I'm also a bit relieved i'm not the only one. I was questioning myself on the install thinking I might not have installed the tube and lower filter bracket correctly.

Thanks for the pics. Great job.

I really think they should rethink/redesign the "clip grooves" and how the intake sits, so it doesn't rub. I dont think its ok for a consumer to live with a part that's not fitting the way it should (OEM quality), especially for that price. "Performance without sacrifice" is their logo, well, I sacrificed my time, stress levels through the roof dealing with them and last but not least, money.

My run was 12.8 @ 107, and 60 foot was 1.9 so I just added 2 tenths to my 60 foot and guessed. So i take it your mods are comparable to mine. What have you done to your car?

I have the same intake too. I had your same issue at first, but it sat itself after a few retries. But the dealer broke the tongue of one of the clips on the same side. It sits ok, so I didn't bother say anything. Not really a big deal. BUt as for the depression in the inside insulation, I have that too, but no holes or any ill effects. I even forgot about it completely until I saw your thread. I have to say though, there is no better intake out there, and I'd do it all over again. Tischer BMW sold and installed it for me. They had a 20% off deal going.

Mine was done last August. I still love the damn thing.

The performance factor and the idea is great, but I think they can improve the fitment. I wish more people that are having these same problems said something about. I am sure Dinan would have fixed it by now and I wouldn't have been in this situation.

There aren't too many people who bought this intake, so maybe they don't get much feedback or it would simply be cost prohibitive to review the design.
Damn, if it cost $500, people would be all over this and it would sell like hot cakes.

After trying to resolve this issue I got progressively frustrated and almost bought a new lid. They quoted me 400 and some change just for the lid! They were eager to sell me a lid ( with an additional discount), rather than honoring their warranty and resolve it at no additional expense.

I am hoping I can educate the community so they know what kind of product/ service to expect for dealing with the company.

Don't worry I am sure they read this forum. I know because when I had problems with their flash and couldn't get their dealers to help me and I went on a rant, they asked someone to reach out to me tell me they wanted to talk. Eventually I was proven right about the issue I was having with the tune, I got an apology, but it was too little too late in my case. Now let them fix this otherwise awesome intake.

Thank You. I was considering this intake as well but after the way you have been treated I'll be looking a different manufacturer....and I have had the stage 2 flash since december '07. I just don't think dinan is being to smart on this one...especially with all the competition out there.
why buy dinan if they will not honor their warranty???????

I was a loyal Dinan costumer even though their tune didn't give the top performance numbers. I went for quality and reliability hoping to piece my car together and make it a stage 3 some day. Now I have bad taste in my mouth and need to go different route, which sucks since I spent a lot of money on Dinan stuff.
