Because BMW dealerships are currently still selling E46 M3's with 333HP until the new '08 E92 M3 arrives w/ the 420HP V8. They didn't want to market the 335i with 320HP/340 lb.-ft. TQ while still trying to sell the more expensive and exclusive M3 with 333HP and ~ 280 lb.-ft. TQ. Of course, this is just a theory, but a widely accepted one.

Hopefully, there are some more reasonably priced re-flashes in the the works from other tuners...a reflash for a 335i should not cost any more when compared to other cars....for example, look at the APR chips for Audi A4 2.0T- $599.00 for better gains and and more options.

I called up AWE(where I got my Audi flashed) and although they only do Porsche/Audi/VW tuning, they looked into it for me. They said GIAC is coming out with an OBDII port flash for the car. Even though they dont work on BMW's, they would get it for me if I wanted. Typically those only cost $499. We shall see.
