Ive never heard of gas being rated by tiers. Is this something I can find somewhere so I can see how the other brands Ive been using rank?

Yes, Chevron is a good gas too.
They are also one of a select few who put their cleaning additive in ALL grades of their fuel, not just premium like most do. HyperM3 Google search "Top Tier Rated Gasolines" to get your answer. Exxon/Mobil isn't one of them. That was a surprise to me a few weeks ago and a surprise to my buddy Kujo, who is also on this board. We both no longer use them. And I'd venture to guess that would be a surprise to MOST people as they are the biggest gas company and many, many people use their gas thinking they are a quality gas company. After seeing poor dyno results on cars that has Mobil gas in them, I can attest to Mobil's crappy gas quality. |

I saw Sunoco-Canada on there. Does that mean that Sunoco in USA isnt good? I hardly have any of those "Top Tier" stations around me. Theres only one Shell that I know of. Wow, all my years of gas station love has been uprooted.

well, try pumping some lesser known brand for a week. you might experience knocking and irratic idle rmp fluctations. then try Shell's V power, i think you'll see why people choose those Top Tier Brands like Chevron and Shell. i wish we had a 76 around here...miss those 97oct days

I think the point by now has been made that Shell V-power is the gas to use.

Filled up with Shell V-Power 93 today. Not sure if its going to make a difference. I mostly used Sunoco 93 which is right beside the Shell station. Price is comparable.
Interestingly about 1 mile down the road there is another Shell station, but its pumps list V-power 92 octane. Not sure how they came up with that and how they get 92 when the other Shell has 93. It's just one octane, but I'd rather get the best bang for my buck. |

When I moved to my new house, right near Driver72s actually, there is a Mobil station. I started using it out of convenience. When D72 told me about the Mobil dyno numbers, I was suprised. I was even more suprised that Mobil wasn't a TT fuel. So, now I went back to my old ways and ONLY fill up at Shell, 76 or Chevron and in that order !! Wished we could get 93 here. I guess 1 gallon of Tuelene ( )and 10 gallons of 91 will make it there though. And there is a Sherwin Williams right at the bottom of my street !! kj |

+1 to everyone who mentioned Shell
I could be parked inside another gasoline station and I will drive those extra miles just to get shell. Definetly worth it IMHO V-Power :]

I now have access to Sunoco gas. Have been using Chevron premium in my Benzes and in the 335i because I use a station that offers full service: will come to the house if necessary for a tire, battery, etc. Is there any benefit to Sunoco? My dad swears by Shell premium is his S550.

http://www.sunocoinc.com/Site/Consum...California.htm So you can mix it with their 91 and come out with 93 Octane. Kind of sux that we have to pay like 4.25 a gallon to get 93 though. |

Exxon was well known in 1989; a bit more than they really wanted.
