Taken from the actual Racing Dynamics SPA website: "We apologize for this situation and wish to reiterate to the BMW community that: any new product sold in the U.S. and Canada under the Racing Dynamics brand name, after January 1, 2003, is most likely NOT manufactured by Racing Dynamics S.p.A., therefore, no assurances can be given that it is an original Racing Dynamics S.p.A. product. If you are located in the U.S. and Canada, and intend to purchase the original tuning products from Racing Dynamics S.p.A., please insist with your retailer that you expect to receive and will only accept RDSport® brand products."

RDsport is coming out with more aggressive maps. Black Box $1500 retail Proceed $1300 Difference $200 which is very marginal Turner Motorsports (CHIP) $2499 and the power is very similar to The Black Box http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...2&subcat_id=20

no offense taken. Just curious to know, why do you think it sounds fake? I am very happy to see others coming out with products as well. Turner has re-map available as well

So RD sport IS the brand of Racing Dynamics Spa. The famous Bmw tuner. However, Vishnu has turbo car mapping experience that RD does not have. Brand of a car is irrelevant. I bet the RD map is outsourced, as its not their core competence.

Haven't been on the forum much. It is understood that people will defend what they know especially when it makes more power. Not trying to get people to change over, just letting people know that there are options. Shiv sounds to be doing a great job keeping you guys involved. Thank you for being straight up. What other information should be provided? Having read some forums, it is funny how when you post lots of information, it sounds fake and when you don't post enough then it gets questioned to death. It was installed on Thursday and this wasn't posted till Friday due to wanting to put together proper opinions and information to best of my ability. The only reason I mention the octane thing was because someone posted the numbers for 93. Not saying that Shiv's product does not put down the claimed numbers. Thank you for your regard. Not offended at all, just figured that this information should be shared Only makes sense that a company like RDsport takes an interest in this car as they are an exclusive BMW tuner. Also, I mention RDsport/Racing Dynamics Spa to not be confused with Electodyne/Racing Dynamics USA people

after reading the past two pages...
I'm glad I have a 330. After I get passed by all the 335's, then get passed by Finnvette's re-manifolded 325, then get passed by the re-tuned 328's... I'll have the slowest e9x on earth and STILL be happy.

The other side of the story
Here in Australia I used the Xede to tune my own 335i. Rumour has it, that Vishnu dropped the Xede because he is either using a rebadged Haltec, or he figured he could make more money copying the Xede and making it himself.
It seems strange, to say the least, that they used the Xede for applications on the Japanese cars, which have more components to control, and now they feel that they need a different platform for the BMW. The Xede guys are prepared to expand their unit capabilities if need be, so why didn't Vishnu take this route? I think it is always important to hear the 2 sides of a story, instead of just buying the hipe coming from one of the parties involved. |

Certainly Turner will have customers for this. They are a big company and they are offering software. How much did you guys pay for installation or was it all DIY? $1500 included installation. I don't want to touch anything as messing around with something unfamiliar is not my thing. Certainly there will be more maps in the future from RDsport. Guess it is going to have to come down to a race

Curious?
I did hear from one of the Xede guys that they were working with a European BMW Tuner and that they were getting the complete schematics of the Siemens DME from them. They implied that this cooperation could lead to a new and revised unit and/or software.
After reading your posts, I am wondering if they are working with Racing Dynamics. Can anyone confirm? |

Can't comment on someone else's products in depth as it is not my position. I guess RDsport and Turner share similar views when it comes to performance. Both BMW only sources "It’s ready, we are one of the first in the USA to offer reliable dyno developed performance software for the 335 - and it makes GREAT POWER (+35hp at the wheels over stock and +34lb/ft of torque over stock) That’s 367hp and 372lb ft of torque. Can you say faster than a M3 ? This software for the 335 is a reprogram of the current software in your engine computer (not a "piggy back" system or a "soldier job") There are no down sides of this modification, we modify fuel and spark mapping, adjust the throttle and most importantly INCREASE THE BOOST (to a safe reliable amount) This is the perfect upgrade for someone who wants a dramatic boost in power especially in the low to mid-range - Check out the dyno sheet, with the Stage 1 TMS performance software your car will have much more torque at 2700 RPM (+26lb/ft at the wheels!) If you are in the Boston area, make an appointment to stop by for a road test - Our 335 with this software is simply awesome! (91 or higher octane gasoline is required) Stage 2 will be out mid summer and is expected to make 400hp. Please keep in mind that with a "turbo car" it is "easy" to make horsepower by increasing boost BUT keeping your BMW reliable the most important thing to Turner motorsport., we may be a little conservative with our software but its better than the alternative." If this is true and it is RDsport then RDsport's resources must be very good. Personally, can't confirm

It's difficult to overcome the buzz and inertia created by Shiv. This is a popular board and he had the foresight to walk us all through his development process. Would have served other tuners well to do the same thing. Why they chose not to is their business. I'm sure they had their reasons.
However, I for one would like to know what real world experience the other tuners have with their product. I know they dynoed, tested, redynoed, and retested. But what else have they done? Shiv, being at least as good a marketer as he is a tuner, was able to get quite a number of people to pay to be beta testers. They all did so willingly and most, if not all, seem glad they did. I'm sure glad they did. I know their feedback helped immensely with development. If others want to come and hawk their wares, we should welcome them with open arms. However, Shiv has set the standard. Other than dyno runs, tell us what real world experience you have in the development of your product. And, like another poster said, it would be a good idea not to use language that sounds like an infomercial. |
