I had a 2006 350Z... changed suspension to Tokico's --never a problem.
Oil consumption was my enemy-- Nissan ended up giving me a complete long-block at a cost of $11K to them... $0 to me. Sold the car soon after that.

My 2008 (purchased in 2009) 335i has been in more in two years than all cars I've owned in past 6 years:
Fuel regulator (2 visits)
Reprogram (x2)
Fuel Pump (4 visits to resolve)
Bulb replacements (x2)
Sway bar bushings (x2)
Rattling Rear Visor
iPod connector issues (3 visits to resolve)

No real issues since Oct 2010 (knock on wood) but sway bars are squeeking again and another bulb just went

Everyone should by a KIA, Hyundai, etc. ... a reasonably priced car. Too many BMWs on the roads anyway. Those of us that are left, can then go in for service and get quality care without line ups and long waits.

This is CRs "projected" reliability.

JD Powers owners survey, of actual problems reported per 100 cars, is a better indicator of ACTUAL reliability. 2011 study (2008 model year cars) just came out a few weeks ago. OK, most of the Germans don't fare much better here - average is 151 problems per 100 cars. Audi (162) and BMW (164) are below average, VW (191) is almost at the bottom just above Chrysler and Dodghttp://businesscenter.jdpower.com/news/pressrelease.aspx?ID=2011029e. But MB (128) is well above average, ahead of Honda, Ford, Infiniti, Subaru, Nissan, etc. In fact, MB has improved from 250ish only 3-4 years ago.

But I still wouldn't want an MB......except maybe an AMG.

Also, let's not bash the car makers themselves. It's the German parts makers that need to take on some of this heat. The fuel pump is outsourced, not made by BMW.
"The fuel pump is outsourced, not made by BMW"?

Wow would love you working for me seeing as you have the great trait of accountability baked right in.

Had no problem with my Grand Touring Roadster's suspension. I think also all of us that owned one was a member of my350z.com so we know whats being said in the forums :P

Don't have a single negative thing to say about my Z. At the moment, also no complaints about my BMW. Time will tell

Not accountability. It's all about deniability. If you can blame someone else, it's best if you do, unless if you like to be lubed up. Practical view if you ask me.

What year is your Z? I am talking about 2003-2004 production runs. I know Nissan fixed the issues after. So will BMW.
