Of course it isn't part of the unsprung weight (I never said it was) but it IS part of the overall weight.

Don't try to change the topic by muddying the water. The fact is that the suspensions (according to BMW) in the US are set up for RFTs so the tire guy was technically correct.

Of course you CAN change the tires (and many do) but that doesn't change the fact that the tire guy was right.

Here's a thought... if and when Bridgestone introduce the third generation run-flat, will they be excluded from the list of OEM tires due to the characteristics being "too similar" to normal tires?

For some very valid reasons, I believe BMW will be welcoming them with open arms.

Strictly speaking, we shouldn't even consider them, if our cars were designed for generation two RFTs.
