When I get the same problem (low fuel/lack of oomph), I stop, ask the rear passengers (if there are any) to make their own way home, and drop the rear seats.

The transformation is mindblowing, and I'd recommend others try this no cost fix

I close my arm rest and fold my cup holders away, seems to do the trick!

Yep..

I think the issue lies in the cap... so at least we are on the way to a solution..

Black & Decker cordless drill,10mm drill bit and it's sorted

You'll still need to carry out the rear seat mod though

Vacuum in the tank?

This used to be a common issue years ago when there wasn't complex breathing and return supply systems. Cars would hesitate, stumble or even stall through lack of fuel, due to vacuum induced fuel starvation. All caused by blocked cap breathers.

Difficult to see how a cap can cause it, (not sure are systens are vented through the cap), need to identify what is faulty.

Wouldn't have thought modern pumping systems and injection pressures would be affected, but you can never rule anything out.
