I'm pretty sure my AE full DP back will gain more power than your mufflers with stock pipes.
+1

Let me see uhhh full DP back Madrel bent 2.5 inch tubing w/ kick ass mufflers for ~ $1600-1700

OR

Stock pancake piping with Mufflers that prolly weight more than the OE ones..for $2600

Let me think about that..

Nice comparo. HKS is really doing their homework these days. I'd love to know what the Bastuck exhaust yields in power.

They all do a little, eisenmann does drone but at least it's worth it for the sound, the rest of the exhausts are just a waste of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ they sound like stock

You do realize there is more to an exhaust system then just sound...and the AE sounds nothing like stock..

Bastuck is top notch imo. You could always have a muffler shop mandrel bend/fab some pipes from the downpipe to sec 3 if you want a full exhaust.

I like the exhaust note of our cars. Granted IMO the 2jzgte sounds better, but I don't think our cars sound whack. I had a much harder time getting a nice noise from my e46 M. I went through probably 20 different variations and setups before I found one I liked.

It would be interesting to see a couple different variations in exhaust design. The AMS exhaust is the only exhaust that really varies in design from the separated banks.

Agreed. Bastuck is definitely quality stuff and it sounds great.

Idk man I think my 335i was one of the nicest sounding cars stock that i have driven...but i have one of the first ones to roll off the assembly line Oct 2006 production.. I have driven later model 335i and they did sound more tame..my SA even told me this.

It's 100% subjective. The minimal gains of one exhaust over another on this car is far less important than the owner liking the sound coming out the back. I think Bastuck sounds money with catless downpipes, midpipes, and custom piping but AE definitely sounds great too

I agree 100%..but if its a choice of doing a complete DP back mandrel bent system vs just section 3 w stock pipes..its really a no brainer.

It's a no brainer in terms of numbers... But not sound. Let me just say this: if I choose the Bastuck I'd definitely replace the rest of the exhaust at some point

i just want the most free flowing exhaust possible w the nicest sound..to me that has to mean turbo back mandrel system..regardless of what manufactuer u decide on..thats what I was trying to get across..agreed if you choose Bastuck or Eisenman with proper piping thats good..but then how much is that exhaust gonna end up costing $4K??

Rather put that extra money towards other mods

The best setup as far as Batuck goes has been the Bastuck rear section + some form of secondary cat delete pipes.

Now, we are actually trying to see if anyone is interested (especially in chicago), in a catless N55 pipe + Bastuck set up. I believe that with price of about $2200, this will be a great set up for any that wants a full catless system.

is there anyone whos had both AE and Bastuck systems? It sounds like the AE exhaust has great sound, performance and value. And Bastuck exhaust also sounds great, but you'll need some other piping and catless downpipes to get the best sound.

Just go on youtube and listen to the exhaust clips. Go listen to all of them REV, at the end when you let off the gas before it goes back to idle, you hear this puff of air come out and it honestly sounds like a Queef. It sounds cheap and something I did not like. You listen to the AE exhaust REV and there is no Queef or gurgle at the end.

Aside from that it sounds the best through the entire RPM range. Matched with quality and the proven performance gains it's the reason why I chose this exhaust. Mated to the AR Downpipes it will sound even better, at least that's what I'm told. Let's face it, regardless of what exhaust you go with you will not get the scream and howl of the M5 V10 that sounds amazing. I want to be loud, but I do not want to turn my BMW into something cheap and ricey.

+1 I had to change the stock X pipe though. It hit the Hotchis chassis brace and rattled like nuts in a tin can.

Me. My E90 has the full AE system and my E92 has AR catted down-pipes, Riss Racing (discounted, I swear!) section 1, custom X pipe and the Bastuck at the rear.

AE is much more subdued until you get on it it @ 3K or so then it opens its lungs. If you want a complete DIY kit, I'd go with AE as everything is in the box when you get it. If you are taking your car to an exhaust shop, I'd have them fab some section 1 pipes with an X then install the Bastuck as its sound is much more exotic.

With the AR downpipes, you'd be careful to mistake the idle rumble for a V8

The AE Performance paired with the AR Design downpipes do give a nice deep and aggressive exhaust note. Here are a couple sound clips for you guys to check out!!

Sorry to bring back a dead thread but does anyone have a link to a place selling Bastuck exhausts in the US?
