Yeah I know ... this is Hong Kong ... I just checked the bill and it was more like 500 USD ... but still expensive.
Anyway just got the car back and it runs great and really smooth. But it should after a total of 4200 USD work. Oh well I am just glad to get her back and I have a 2 year warranty on the parts so .... And now I get to put on her new ICONZ custom shoes which I waited 4 month for .... but they are sweeeettttt .... Hold for photos next week.

Fyi, since you are paying for the parts you have the right to get the old ones back. Make sure you do that. I have a feeling your coil packs are fine and the diode in the dme can be replaced.

Yeah my whole trunk has the old parts in it ... so I have injectors, HPFP and Coil packs which I think all are ok. BMW said I had to replace the coilpacks to ensure the warranty on the DME ... since they said the coilpacks somehow were causing the failure. Like that is related ????? Anyway replaced the coils to make them feel better ...

Ok so it looks like the DME is defective and should be covered under bmw's warranty? Or was your car not built during that time period?
I don't think this has anything to do with GIAC at this point.

In the US this would have been covered since my car is in the 2007 defective period however I am in good old Hong Kong. You guys are spoilt over there. Then again I probably would be driving a GT3 if I was there for the price I spent on my BMW here.

Man that sucks. I'll have to check the manf. date of my car to make sure I don't fall in this time period of defective DME's.

You should have sent your DME back to those repair shops that fix N54 dme's 500 dollars and your back on the road no dealer visit necessary.
They ripped you off with the coils at 25k miles you didn't need them, the misfiring was from your bad DME. |

Thanks for this post. Usefull information. My dme went out. Brought it to the dealer and Im currently awaiting approval to replace it. Dont know exactly what codes it had. But I know there was no injection on bank 2, multiple misfires and the electronic motor malfunction or something like that. Made it home in 3 pistons.
