The aFe N55 intake will definitely yield gains sir and thanks again for the order/support. Post up some video clips of the intake in action so that we can all get a more realistic idea of how it sounds on the car. Can't wait to see the DYNO results!

Yes, I hate the new DME...if I stayed stock that is. I was talking objectively about it in terms of stock to stock...but I am NOT stock if you have ANY of the tunes available (JB3, Procede) on your car and plan on being tuned for most of the duration of your vehicle then PLEASE update your DME. It almost makes most intakes obsolete. Pre-DME update cars are seeing gains on intakes because of the MAF adding boost to the car and the new tune changes the way the MAF works in terms of boost. Go figure.

Why would anyone not get the new DME update along with the JB N55 tune? This is crazy. For me the change was drastic after being able to bump boost to +5 on 93. The only negative I have heard is with the DCT softness / quickness. Guess I am lucky I have a clutch pedal.

Also, I hope the OP realizes that the N55 JB maps 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, are ALL the same tune!!! Map zero is stock. Map 6 simulates the JB+, and is only to test for the new DME update or not. The default settings should not be raised like people are saying, until you confirm you are the latest DME update. All this is on the support forums, I feel bad it seems they did not read this?

Im with ya I do not understand what the Op wants here exactly

If you want more power you need to get the Dme update plain and simple.

According to terry Bmw changed some very important boost algorithms in the new update which allow the jb3 to control the boost more efficiently.

The ONLY "proven" downfall of the new update is a quieter exhaust idle and less backfires.

How do I check which DME update I have? I purchased my car 12/2010 and haven't updated since. But I have no issues running full bolt ons on my n55.

They also claimed 27hp on their stage 2 DCIs lol.

Update your firmware and run map 6 log it. If it looks like factory boost levels you have the correct dme update.

Another thing you can try but i'm not sure if its 100% just yet is push the dtc button if it has a car drifting side to side. Again this one is not 100%!

Running 4.5 with 93 and no codes. Much improved after the firmware upgrade and change from 2.75 (default) to 4.5. I'm still waiting on someone (not AFE) to show before and after dynos of the intake. Link?

should have got the n54.... sorry. Intake looks great, I can't believe no gains, I figure at least half what they advertise. Sorry to hear about the DME confusion. It would be nice if our tunes would target particular DME firmware with individual algorithms. So, if you have software from 2009, the tune would identify it and apply the correct version of firmware. So hard to know if you have the latest firmware or if you even would want it.

it doesnt hold the 14.5 across the full rpm range. It hits the 14.5 and starts to drop to about 11-12 depending on gear. But once i installed the intercooler it was holding boost alot better.

When i had the procede only i was still hitting 13-14 but boost would drop alot faster.

Customer Dynos or nada..
+1 Vendors can put up whatever dyno they want that day to make the numbers look better. (ie worst stock vs best modded) Their primary reason here is to SELL you a product and make money... period dot! I recall a year ago, R** was selling an exhaust that claimed +40 hp, even a free flowing car with no exhaust whatsoever could not gain that much.

That being said. Your butt dyno will not feel anything unless it's over 20 hp, unless you have a very sensitive and calibrated butt Take some datalogs, would love to see your IAT's and WDC.

+1 I remember that.

I think the OP had high expectations from an intake. At best it will only shine on the top end 3rd 4th gear and will be hardly noticed.

I went form stock intake to DCI and only reason I knew it was becaues the sound changed, performance was the same on the street.

In a track setting or dyno you might be able to find the advantages in those numbers but the butt dyno says there is no change. Its just a filter after all.

If you want something for the butt dyno slap on a 25 shot of nitrous, you will feel that guaranteed!
