+1, I would get a new pipe rather than weld the damaged one.

hey op, get a new tube/hose for the ac, don't chance welding it, its not worth the labor down the road if it decides to leak slowly and you need a new hose and recharge
Okay I will admit I was being little facetious, BUT I will testify in court that this shit works as it claims! It's obviously not a perminent fix, but could allow the OP to get some temporarily relief from the heat. I carry multiple rolls with me on my boat and I've had to use it once to stop a hydraulic steering leak.

Hmm, I've had mine for a really long time, so long I forgot...maybe 1.5 yrs. Many long 6-8 hr drives up and down from Bay Area to SoCal with A/C running the entire time with no probs.

Definitely an install problem, and looks like other users have identified the most likely cause.

OP,
I had the EXACT same thing happen, but it was BEFORE I installed my FMIC! This is a design or install problem associated with the OE intercooler also!!
Good Luck

I just checked my AMS and stock charge pipe. There is some slight wear. I would think adjusting the underside hose clamp from IC outlet could give some extra room to relieve any contact... if there's enough room on the IC outlet.

Or I was thinking to wrap a 4" or so silicone hose around the charge pipe clamp... what do you all think?

EDIT: ended up putting 3" hose in-between clamp and AC line. Temporary fix until I can get in there and securely wrap the AC line and/or move IC piping upwards.

You can get a place that does ac work to make you a custom line that won't have that problem for cheaper than that.

Yes, do the silicone. My shop is repairing it and reinforcing with silicone.

We've sold a lot of AMS FMICs this year and not a single person has come back with such an issue. Looks like it was the clamp that rubbed, but I am surprised it took that much out of the AC line.

Its a good lesson when installing anything, stock parts included that there is clearance between components.

This happened to my car also, but was fixed under warranty. IIRC, the sa told me there was an SIB out for this issue.

just to play it safe, when i order my intercooler, i'll be wrapping AND gently make a few bends to push it out of the way of any chance of rubbing the clamp, just to play it safe

Mike you should send an email to everyone who purchased this item to have them check for this issue.
