"I hope you all with fuel pump PROBLEMS, get your cars back as soon as possible...Feel your pain"

Kind of jumpy during the morning starts and during idle on mine but nothing serious. Hmmmm. Time to check the production date.

In the OP's case did you recently put gas in your car?

If you did in the day or so prior to this happening, you could of just
got a bad batch of gas.

I too hope it's not the fuel pump though.

Since you have a new FP I have no idea what you are basing this on. Idle fluctuates a little and you freak out? But I honestly think you should seriously consider selling your car. It sounds like you wont be comfortable driving it so cut your losses and pick up a nice safe Lexus IS. You should probably go for the IS250.

This is true. Think back to when the E46 M3's had rod bearing recalls for the early production cars, and now when you look at those cars they all seem pretty reliable. There are always kinks in new production cars, it just sucks when you get one of them. I feel your guys pain. The first month that I had my E46 I need to get my alternator replaced, and then a week after that they had the car for a week trying to diagnose why my RPMs would fluctuate between 400 and 4,000 RPM at idle! Its very frustrating with a new car, but hopefully they will issue a recall and work this all out soon.

True, but with the M3 CRB recall BMW stepped up and did the right thing by recalling all of the cars since they new a very small percentage would fail.

But with the FP they just pretend like it isn't that big a problem, and then when it fails you bring the car to them and they dick around for 2-3 days before they tell you it is the FP, which you told them when you dropped it off. Then they tell you it will take a week to get a pump for you.

Meanwhile everyone whose's hasnt failed (yet) are left wondering if it is failing with each hard cold start, rough idle or bog. And if running lean in this car is as bad as Shiv is telling us how f'ing bad is it to be running WOT and full boost with a FP that is taking a dump?

+1... it is totally lame that it took almost 48 hours for them to tell me exactly what I told them when I dropped it off... and waited until then to order the pump...

a week? actually... I am going on 8 days now... tomorrow will be 9 days.
When I call in, they wont tell my how many are on backorder, and where I stand... they just say "we dont even have a timeline yet"

Its starting to get annoying... especially since I have gone for an entire week with ZERO new info as to when it will be fixed... just a generic response of "we hope to have it back to you as soon as possible"
Thats like 2 copouts in 1 sentence!

So, at the end of the day the 335i is not a reliable everyday driver...Great...spend 50K for a car and then 20K more for a daily driver...WTF BMW??? We all know that it is the first year of production, but come ooooon now Fuel Pumps are going like hot bread sticks with butter....

Why did you just picked up your car when it was more than 4 months ago since it's been produced?

Also, just curious, how many miles do you have on her?

Those of us that are "early adopters" (as the trade calls us) have to reralize that with new / high tech items such as the new 335 TT engine we WILL have growth and infant mortality issues (fuel pumps --- oil coolers etc. ). Unfortunately these include hardware AND software items (no it won't be as bad as VISTA). This happens in EVERY industry and especially in areas where they do not make thousands of copies prior to full blown production.

I for one am a real TECHNO-GEEK. Must be my 35 years in engineering and engineeering management. I not only want all this new high tech stuff (engines, retractable hard tops, navigation, touch activated, voice activated, ..... you get the picture) but I want to understand how it works and to be part of the FIX IT group of people. So when you buy a vehicle like the BMW especially the NEW ones, you have to expect this. Hopefully it will sort out within the first 6 months. So do not expect the reilability to be like a Lexus - the Japanese COPY technology and spend a fortune getting the manufacturing right (6 sigma / design excellence / process control etc.).

BTW - any of you remember the Chrysler Turbine car from back in the 60's ??? My dad was lucky enough to have gotten one of these jewels for FREE use for 30 days. It idled at 26,000 RPM and was in the shop 50% of the time he had it !! I remember the fun he and I had with it. Unfortunately I was not quite old enough to drive it -- OFFICIALLY -- he let me drive it in parking lots !!!!

some of you guys... could be a bad batch of gas.

I got a tank of gas with E90 323i that had a high concentration of water... the car didn't freakin' like it too much.

Could be bad gas...

Just drive it for acouple months and Lemon it. If mine gives me fuel pump issues im going to lemon is after a year. I know a lawyer who doesnt charge you anything to lemon a car, and he almost always wins. Than he sues bmw for his money. IMO you got nothing to loose, have fun with the car and than get rid of it.

2oo7 335i sedan
My production date is 09-06

It's in the shop right now!

Picked up some food the other night and started the cars. Fumbled around my wallet, while the vehicle was still in park and the engine just cut off. Just yesterday, I got in and was about 2 miles from the house at a stop sign. Accelerated and the engine hesitated like it was out of gas. reved up to about 2k and rpm jumped up and down about 500. Overall, the car does not drive like a 335i anymore. The jolting torque and acceleration is gone and I feel liike I'm back in my 325. Dealer called me about an hour ago and said they could not duplicate it. I told them to keep it overnight and keep looking.

Did you leave the car running while you were filling up?

If you did, of course its going to cause idling problems....you created a fuel tank leak which, if you do it enough will throw the check engine light. I get people like you all the time that come in cuse they are too lazy to shut their car off at the pump (its the LAW anyways), and when it senses a big pressure loss such as you opening your gas cap, it will throw the light on (evap emissions go to shit because of it).

Try running your car and open the oil cap...it will cause the same idling problems.
