• MSDs = Multiple Security Deposits
  
• MSD's are refundable at the end of your lease and are almost always better than a down payment on a lease. The maximum amount of security deposits are 7 (from BMWFS).
  
• Each MSD reduces the Money Factor by .00007 (or .168%).
  
• The simple way to convert Money Factor to and interest rate is to multiply by 2400.
  
• Security Deposits are calculated by your projected montly payment rounded up to the closest $50. For example, if your payment is going to be $624, your security deposits will be $650 each.

There are more posts about this, but if you run numbers you are better off putting down MSD's that are refundable instead of a regular old down payment that you don't get back at the end of the lease.
