Can you tell me where you found this info?

I am more interested in the injen intake, i really like the sound.

Are u saying i would loose power if i get this intake?

The install on the tune is super simple, and takes less then 10min once you have done it once, so there are no issues, installing and removing and once gone leaves no physical trace as all the sensor taps are plug and play.

Mike

Definitely agree with both it being worth it and the install/uninstall being easy. I've taken mine out for service a few times and every time I go back to stock I keep wishing I still had my tune in. I say get the tune man, you'll love it. Also, once I got a AR Downpipe, it got even better...I highly recommend the downpipe along with the tune

I'm no expert, but the injen intake doesn't even have a heat shield. Put ur hand on the hood of the car after some spirited driving and you'll get an idea what kinda hot air sits in the engine bay. Just common sense to me.

AFE does have the heat shield, although not even that is 100% closed like the factory. When first introduced, it made good power because it fooled the air mass sensor (i think thats what its called) and raised boost. Newer software controls the sensor differently and intake has no effect now. Shiv and a few others pointed this out but don't have the time to find it. Sorry.

Edit: To be clear, the point is the AFE did not increase power cuz of its design but because it simply fooled the sensor on the intake.

Awesome guys thanks for the info!! I really think I'm gonna go ahead and order it! A couple more things however... How is the extra psi decided? I saw people have the boost 2 or 4.5 extra on top of the stock boost? And what's a good psi setting? Also what is MAP or something, I've see people talk about having the tune or something on different MAP settings?? Once again thanks for everything guys!

If you're stock like me, I think Terry recommends 4.9ish...but we have 93 Oct here in NY and not sure what u have there. Email Terry and he should be able to better answer these questions.

Ok I will definitely shoot him an email. Is an intake or blow off mandatory to help the tune or does it not matter?

Intake doesn't do anything. Check link I sent you in my previous post.

+1

the lag is definitely more noticeable on my n55 as compared to my previous n54. I am waiting for them to improve the tunes before I get one this time.

Pretty much all my customers with N55s who had N54s report there is a touch more laggy feel on the N55.

so the jb3 doesnt help the turbo lag? this is my first turbo car so im not sure how much "lag" im supposed to feel. weren't the n55s supposed to have decreased turbo lag compared to the earlier 335s?

My car is a November 2010 build, my car arrived Feb. 2.

I am taking my car in for service in few days and I have expressed to the service manager my concerns regarding lag and if a newer software version might help decrease the lag. He said he will check for newer version when I arrive. Hope the update helps....

The JB Stage1 definitely gets rid of the turbo lag feel.

Intakes have been shown to be pretty much zero gains on the N55 so grab the Stage1 tune and a USB cable so you can update it and configure the boost with the custom mapping.

Sent you a PM.
