I got help from my good friend Olivier who has heavily modded his X3.
We started with a complete new solution for the corner delete. But
after a few experiments, a few error messages, and a new diagram
from my friend with like 10 relays for each light...
I took an exec decision and went with MPoWeRMAN's solution.

We started at 9am with some heavy bagels for breakfast
We went straight until 4pm. No breaks in between.

Some notes for all others that want to do this:

1) You can do it. repeat this 1000 times before attempting this.
2) I basically did exactly what MPoWeRMAN did with a few changes.
3) No need to remove your bumper or headlights. All I removed was the
wheels and the wheel liner to get to the AEs.
4) I used 16 gauge wire
5) You do have to remove the 2 covers and the middle one to get to the
engine fuse box.
6) As MPoWeRMAN said, removing the cover of the fuse box was a PITA.
7) There is like a gazillion wires inside. It took me a while to find the one
I almost tapped into a white with pink stripes so take your time
and the red with white stripe is kind of towards the back.
8) I did not have to cut that wire, I forced in my wire where the red with white wire goes into a plug in the car.
9) I did not have to remove any other covers from the headlights.
I only needed to remove the cover for the AEs.
10) I drilled a big enough hole on the AE cover so 4 wires can go thru it.
2 wires coming in to the AE bulb (lux in my case) and 2 wires from the car
going out to the dummy bulb.
11) Dummy bulbs were painted black and secured with cable ties under the headlights.
12) that's it. This mod can be done in 2-3 hours.

Now I think I really need lux 4.

Why not?
If you can open headlights, you can do this mod.

Not quite. No remote activation. sorry.
this mod will keep your AEs on when you turn on the engine.
No switch to control them.
No orange corner lights.

The mod is easy if you know a little about wiring.
This thread has all the details to do it.
It takes a while but you can do it.

let me add a little more...
You could add a remote control switch.
I did not because of 2 issues:
1) you end up with 2 controls: key fob and AEs key chain remote
2) you will always have to go to the AEs key chain remote to turn them
on and off.

But it can be done if you must have it.

I like this mod better that the chesmu as it seems cleaner BUT I still think there is a way to route the DRLs to the Angel Lights. I have not had the time to experiment as work and kids has me 24x7..but it think is possible. At first glance I see 2 wires going into the high beams...i guess trial and erros like you guys did will unmask the real real mod. :rocks:

I'm either getting lux3 (if I find it at a good price) or lux4.
But my AEs deserve new bulbs after this mod.

Now a question for you guys... did you originally had the DRL on already? Or you never had DRL to begin with.

Although my car is an 05 production that didn't come with DRL, the dealership turned it on when they did some software upgrade. Now what if I just cut the wire to the existing DRL and rewire it into the halos' line?

Odd, mine does not have the option to turn it on or off. As far as error message goes, if the power feeding into the original DRL is higher than the ones going into the angel eyes, would a resistor work on top of that?

Mmm... I will send you steps to get to that menu option in Idrive.
If you don't have it, you might need a progman upgrade.

I'd say it's more complex than that. Resistors might help but you need more.
The car is smart and can detect that the AEs are on when they should not.

Ya, I'm pretty sure I need another update because my steering button cannot be programmed to switch audio input device still.

Oh well, sounds like too much trouble then I want to bother with anyways.
