These aren't true 3" downpipes, they neck down to 2.5" quite a few inches before the flange where other AR, MS are 3" until the flange and these flanges (like all OBX exhaust products) are made of mild steel which will rust and cause your hardware to corrode.

Take that for what it's worth but there are better quality products at for a few bucks more available

Bottom line is they are priced right and I dont believe they will rust out like most peeps who overspent for their DP's will claim. And AR's are NOT true 3" DP's, they taper off like every other pipe out there.

AR's are very nicely made though but not worth $800..puleeasee, they are pipes...bottom line is if you want a pair of cheap pipes that will fit, go with a pair of used racelands, Riss, etc.

Bottom line is that they are made to a price. What you believe is irrelevant.

Like it has been discuss previously in this thread, if price sensitivity is high, buy used. Used AA, MS and sometimes even AR go for around 400-500 dollars on the FS forum. If that is still above budget, used RR's, UR's, etc., are available for even less.

OBX and Raceland pipes are made for people who do not have the patience to wait for a better offering to come available within their allotted budget. Its not like there's a shortage of used parts available at huge cost savings.. why even mess with an item that has shoddy build quality, poor fitment, and specs built within a budget?

^^Whatever man, I had a pair of VK's for a good long while and they held up just as good as the "3" pipes you have in your sig. And I probably paid 1/3rd of what you did. The Racelands I have now needed a bit of fabrication to get them to fit, but they fit right now....and will work just as well, again for a third of the cost. So if you dont have access to a good shop then get raped spending an extra $600....well that's your problem, not mine. And yeah, that is my opinionated belief.

According to one of the posters on the first page they don't fit. How is that right for a price?

The pipe itself is made of stainless steel like all OBX products and will prob take a bit to discolor but the flanges WILL rust as they are chromed mild steel vs stainless.

^^Again, if you are doing this in your personal garage, and dont have the advantage of a shop to correct/fabricate for you, then Racelands arent for you. If you do, however, then you will have a huge cost advantage. And Raceland's products are getting better as they adjust to their past mistakes....so more peeps should be getting straight plug and play products which makes them even more attractive. I'll spend my savings $$ on something else instead, like a tune or towards a bumper, etc....I had a chinese non-name brand set of DP's on my 350Z for 3 years and had zero problems and no rust in NY weather.....go figure!

You had a pair of VKs for a "good long while"..What is a good long while???..if you feel happy using sub-standard pipes made of poor material and designed with poor fitment.. well? that seems in line with your overall general attitude..

Its absurd to buy new pipes expecting to take them to a shop to modify..just like its absurd to buy new pipes expecting them not to fit..these cost savings you point out are offset by the cost of labor and lost time spent on chasing a "fix". Do it right.. do it once...thats how its supposed to be done

You can get a set of pipes that fit perfectly, are 3" throughout and still save 3-400 bucks over the best competitor

Very cool for you. I have no shame in saving 300 or 400 bux if the product functions the same after some minor work. It can be your secret with the fabricator, lol. Besides Raceland will send you another set free of charge whenever there is a problem and/or reimburse you for fitment issues so whats the harm?

It won't really function the same though. A mangled pipe tends to negatively affect flow

I just purchased the OBX downpipes because they were cheap and had a return policy.
The pipes are very nice looking. Do they look perfect? No. I've seen nicer welds. But will they work? I think so. They are pretty stout. And seem more stout than the stock pipes.
The pipes went on without issue. Bolted right up. No fitment problems, no clamping issues.
Have not driven the car yet but will report back.

Any good shop should be able to make a cut and make them fit. I had that done to some downpipes that I had made. They just popped them out, cut and rewelded a piece in, good to go.

I've had friends run OBX headers on their Acura TL's and CL's. Great stuff for the price point. Only problem that occurred was a weird resonating sound at some RPM's. Not really a "problem" but just an annoying sound.
