This isn't a cat back exhuast. It is an axle back. Trust me, you have to hack off your factory exhaust and use clamps (BMW p/n 18307560779) that are provided by BMW. I showed a couple of photos to illustrate what I am talking about. Notice the two clamps that are about 6-8 inches from the Dinan mufflers. This is where the OEM exhaust must be cut and the bolt on clamps are installed. I hope this helps.

Yes you are 100 percent rite. The OEM exhaust is cut, but the dinan is indeed bolt on and secured with clamps.
