When throwout bearings have gone on my previous cars, they would usually make a squeaking noise...It sounds to me like you've bent your input shaft...

It sounds like gear lash issue, possibly Guibo joint/flex disc needed to be replaced (far cheaper than replacing the entire transmission).

From the video posted in your previous thread I'd also vote for the throw out bearing
as a first choice. From this video I have a hard time hearing anything at all.
Currently I have a Subaru with a bad throw out bearing, the difference is the sound, as you get more rumble. Thinking that might just be the difference in plattforms.
The bearing usually doesn't make any sound whilst in gear, it's depressing the clutch and engaging that makes a lot of sound. Even in gear it could make noises, but it would have to be really worn...or if you had left your car still for a couple of weeks as that does worsen the symptoms.

My car makes a similar noise with my light weight fly wheel. But +1 on throw out bearing. Hopefully you can get the dual mass resurfaced because they are very expensive

Hopefully its not you gearbox..as you cannot buy any OEM internal gear box parts..(gears, synchros etc)..BMW only sells it as a whole unit. I have yet to hear of any MT gear box failures..I believe what you describe sounds more like a clutch or throw out bearing

That is 100% for sure the throwout bearing. The throw out bearing just went out on our e36 track car and it sounds identical to that. And also its usually a dead give away when the pushing the clutch in makes it go away. Parts aren't bad but labor will be pricey. If you DIY it won't set you back to much.

They have the same base part number GS6-53DZ with the 335i being GS6-53DZ - THGX and the M5 being GS6-53DZ - THGR, meaning the base tranny is the same with some minor differences. What they are I'm not sure could be a bolt or something.

As for your question, of course there are cases of blown Manual trannies with these cars. Mr. 5 for example blew his 2nd gear after the power level started getting close to 400whp, and he had an aftermarket clutch. He got his entire trans replaced under warranty. Whats most common though is guys blowing their trans due to money shifting. However, the Manuals do break with extra power, but you can't trust an online forum, because guys love to go online and brag about their Horsepower, but when things break they always typically shy away, out of shame.
There are blown trannies on any car, however, there is few and far between for regular FBO cars.

You are the same guy saying all of us with 14 PSi are going to blow our tranny, cmon man and our turbo's. And Mr.5 ? Are you serious? Did you ever see that guy on the track? He abuses the snot out of his transmission in his videos. He purposely shift locks his gears when downshifting too. Does that sound like a healthy correct way of downshifting? Its no wonder he ran into a problem.

Not one part of his driving methodology is correct if you want things to last. No rev matching, or heel toe driving and certaintly no concern for excessive abuse or wear and tear. Not to mention his abusive drag racing videos and 1-2 shifts.

What would expect out of any car being driven like that?
Nothing against Mr.5 but he doesnt exactly drive like a grandma. He drives the car like its a race car... and race cars break with abuse too.
