What we need to do is get 2 335i's that are tune only, one with an N54 and the other with an N55 and compare the difference in pulling power. We should get both with Juiceboxes and both with Procedes and do some technical comparisons.

Since I have no other supporting mods other than a tune, for about 2-3 weeks, I'll gladly do a dyno. I just need to find one in my area and hope it doesn't cost a lot to do it though..

Well a dyno will only tell half the story, we need 2 tune only cars with identical transmissions and we need to do like 40-120 pulls with them to compare.

They are off by like 15-20 hp but the N55 appears to be more torquey and and the torque peaks a little lower so I want to see some real life comparo runs.

Iv'e done the test already. My friend has a n54 with jb4 + intake vs my car which is xdrive +n55 + procede v5 + downpipes. On a 2nd gear pull it's fairly equal but once we get in 3rd gear he has about half a car in front. Bare in mind he doesn't have downpipes. N54 pulls harder than n55 period!!!

Dude if you have an x-drive and he has the rwd that automatically throws your results off lol. You have much higher drivetrain loss than he does and you have much less rolling race power. Plus you are much heavier.

We need two identical cars - both sedans, both rearwheel drive and both with identical transmissions, one with an N54 and one with an N55, this needs to be isolated to only one variable and that is engine.

yea thats true. In another comparison though, i raced my friends 2011 335is with a front mount intercooler and dci when i was stage 1 jb3 with only intake and it was pretty similar, his maybe a smudge quicker esp from a dig. From a 60- 100 + run. it was very similar.

The N55 135i w/ DCT is pretty competitive with an N54 steptronic. BMS has run 12.4s on it with just Stage1 on one. The N55 steptronic seems to run slower for some reason. Overall I think a tuned N55 DCT has a chance against a tuned N54 steptronic but I wouldn't bet on it.

This is an unfair comparison Mike. I want to compare engines solely... You are comparing a lightning quick DCT tranny to a pretty quick Auto. We need to get stick to stick or auto vs auto. DCT has to be completely taken out of the equation as there is no N54 DCT 335 in the USA and there is no N55 135 Step in the USA.
