Knowing that its a haltech interceptor with custom firmware acutally makes be want a PROcede more... since i know its a proven product... I think others might feel the same

I think vishnu is more than deserving of all the credit for adapting a product to suite its needs, shiv has countless hours devoted to tuning the 335, and he deserves respect for that... its no different then buying a dell plasma TV, and then finding out its just using an LG panel... dell adapted an existing product to fit a market... its how the tech business works

the only crappy part is that I aksed if it was a haltech months ago, and shiv said no, if he would have said yes, I would have probably ordered a PROcede long ago, instead of waiting for all the bugs to be worked out of his supposed "new" hardware.

I doubt dumping the firmware to the internet would hurt procede sales and there's no magic in tuning. There's been about a million threads by people who are concerned procede will void their warrantee and it takes like 30 seconds to install/remove. And people still need a video to install it, are still afraid of dealerships finding out about it, etc. I would venture a guess to say 99% of BMW owners would not be willing to hack apart the stock wiring harness on their brand new car to install this whether or not they could use the procede firmware/maps.

+1. Rix is dead on with this one. Theres no way Shiv can make the updates downloadable anymore. Time to go back to the good ole days of mailing in products for updates. Thanks Burger

Sorry man, but don't be naive. Money rules the world. Ethics comes in way behind for a lot of people.

he needs to keep close tabs on the firmware... since that seems to be the only reason that his maps wont work on a standard haltech interceptor. As of now, shiv has not released his firmware for download
actually here is what you said earlier....

based on what you said in the bold writing, you mentioned both maps and firmware. Extracting firmware isn't too difficult of a job, it just requires a Procede aka haltech and some knowledge.

yes money makes the world go round but in business it's all about trust. Thus if you're caught lying then you will begin to lose. That was what Vishnu was following until today when shiv lied about the main product hes trying to sell.

So would you be willing to cut your harness to save $400?

Why would you need to cut your harness? Just use the $.20 radio shack connectors Shiv uses.

Fuck no. I have my PROcede. I'm not going to go cheapo with my $40+ car. But there are plenty of other "tuning" experts that would.

IF the firmware really is different. I wish I had an Interceptor to play with.

Do you mean that if a map or firmware, separately or as a part of Procede, is mailed to anybody, this person will likely copy it and mail it further?

If you don't mail it to at least five friends you'll never get married...

Of all the responses from you and Terry, this is one is the most ironic. YOU are the person who wanted to order a PROcede last week. But only if I would be willing to find a way to sneak around CA sales tax. Shall I post your PMs to refresh your memory?

And now you're accusing me of lying? About what? About the fact that the Interceptor and the PROcede are different products?

They are different products. Why don't you call Haltech and ask for yourself? Or better yet, why don't you do what other tuners have done-- find an interceptor and install it on a 335i? And then when you have problems, you can email Haltech for support (as other tuners have done). Then Haltech can forward your email to me (as they have done with other emails). And then I can break the news to you that it wont work. At least that approach will involve less posturing and more action.

Cheers,
shiv
