Question is if you discover it before something bad happens?

Depends. Hopefully the low fluid sensor catches it

Methanol can just as easily leak in any other location on its way to the trunk. Just playing devils advocate here.

Sure, but the difference is that this specific leak in our windshield pump is a known problem...

I'll keep it in mind, thank you.

Two things:

It's very difficult to get 50/50 methanol to water mixtures to ignite. Try it CAREFULLY, but try it if you wish. Beware that methanol burns with a colorless flame, so pay attention. (I used a propane torch.)

Some cold weather windshield wiper/de-icer solution is nearly 48% methanol, and manufacturers do not specify enhanced handling caution, nor is unusual fire hazard specified on the regulatory MSDS sheet for this formulation.

I encourage everyone to do their own homework, but I'm comfortable at 50/50 in the washer tank.

The OP is not worried about the % mixture in the tank, but rather filling the tank after a track session when the vehicle is still very hot and having some spill on a turbo/exhaust mani. I know it's not a direct flame, but even 50/50% mix will combust on 1000 deg. metal. Then again, methanol is no more dangerous than what we fill out gas tanks with.

Correct... In that respect, gasoline is more flammable than is methanol, but we don't carry gasoline in the washer reservoir, nor does gasoline burn in a colorless flame.

I'm still very comfortable at 50/50.

Anybody replace their leaking WW pump and have a leak again?
I don't want to buy a new pump and have it leak again later on.

50/50 very likely won't combust, as in cause a flame, if spilled in/around the turbo area...it'll just evaporate very quickly..I've filled/refilled my meth tank who knows how many times with various mixes, I'm not worried at allwith a 50/50 mix

What about 75/25? With California's crappy 91 octane, I need an octane boost.
