Of course! I remember you from the Touareg forum. In fact isn't it your forum?

Yes to the first, no to the second! Just a Mod...

In fact Kaine, who was the owner, sold it in the last few weeks.

The best I've been able to get is £673 with £10k deposit for £40k car and over 36 months. Balloon is set at 14k (35%) Is this about right?

Sorry to hijack your thread OP......but it is Merc related :-)

I'm thinking of moving over to a Merc C or E class as it looks as if the new 3 Series will not now be shown until March 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
Thought it was going to be Frankfur 2011.
So nothing now to hold my interest for a 3 Series.
With some regret will trundle down to the local Merc dealer for a 'look-see' and a test drive.
Trouble is I'm getting to be no spring chicken and to my mind there's nothing worse than seeing an oldie type driving a Merc. Perhaps because you see so many of them of them about.
It's funny, an oldie type driving a BMW, to me seems OK!
They say it's all in the mind!

Be careful, the Edition 125 is out now and that comes with leather, xenons, comand, bluetooth and a few other toys for free.
I have just been offered 11% off a new E350cdi Sport estate Edition 125 and it still makes absolutely no sense to buy as although it is only £35k new after discount it is still far cheaper to contract hire one.

Plus that one is the old 231bhp engine and the old 7g gearbox, the new ones are 265bhp and have the 7g Plus 'box.
Owners who have changed have seen the MPG increase from around 35ish to 45ish, massive difference.

Here is an E350cdi Coupe, brand new, £1000 deposit and hired for 36 months.
It comes with all that spec and is £470 a month including vat.

http://www.contracthireandleasing.co...class/3303173/

Why the hell would you put £10,000 down and then pay £670 a month?!

There are some mad contract hire deals if you take them before the end of Sept.

Mercedes are giving massive discounts, but only through hire companies, not direct, they can't seem to be giving 20% off direct, existing customers would be in uproar and residuals would be fucked.

That E350cdi saloon will loose £20,000 over 2 years, they always do, buy a coupe a year old for £30,000, but don't pay £40,000 for a saloon.
A Sport estate is the best bet, you can see by contract hire prices that they do far better, you can get them for around £100 a month cheaper even though it is a more expensive car.

E 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Coupé base price £36,035
Design line Sport Edition 125: £2,035
Paint Black: £0
18" AMG alloy wheels: 6-twin-spoke design: £0
Upholstery Leather - Alpaca Grey: £1,370
Optional equipment: £0
Total price (incl. VAT excl. OTR): £39,440
All prices stated above include VAT.

With 10% discount you are looking at £35k for a brand new coupe with the latest gearbox and 265bhp engine plus you get the comand and bluetooth, and amy body pack as part of the Edition 125 freebies.

Residuals on that are higher than the saloon and after 3 years you will get around 45%.
However after your £10k deposit you would only owe £25k, so you could do it over 48 months and owe nothing, it would be years and still worth around £15,000.
That would cost you around £560 a month.

Many thanks Gizze but this will be for my papa to drive...and for us too. Therefore it'd have to be a 'loon. The coupe does look very sleek though.

Will give the company you've recommended a call tomorrow. Anyone in particular I should ask for?

TIA

Search on http://www.contracthireandleasing.co.uk tomorrow as the deals seem to come and go every day.

Search the cheapest price and then bell that company.

Well I trundled down to the local Merc dealer for a 'look-see' and whad did I see? 6 black motors & 1 silver. Are they trying to push black? Looked like a funeral parlour.
I had a look around with a salesman on my tail and came to the conclusion I just did not fancy any of them, not matter how big the brake discs looked.
It all looked to me all just too staid and dull.
So you Merc buyers, I wish you all the best of luck!

Just because they have them in black you are allowed to order them in other colours you know?

.

You clearly haven't seen the colour option charts have you?

When ordering mine this was my only issue. The colour chart was DULL. Blacks, Greys, Grey Blacks, Black Greys, Silver, Grey Silver and so on. To be fair, the E Class has a few more real colours available but the E didn't appeal to me at all

The one that did look good was white but the Mercedes white is an off white not a pure white.

Coming from a Montego blue 335 this was a shock.

In the end I have gone with one of the blacks (there are 3 blacks to choose from) because the car had already been built so that choice was taken away from me.

But those that watch Top Gear may recall this being discussed in the news section last year.
