8 days from Panama to Port Hueneme, that means their schedule with arrival on 10/4 would be accurate. I was hoping there was a chance it would arrive on 10/3 so I could get it from the dealer on 10/5. Probably looking at 10/6 or 10/7 delivery.

Port Hueneme finally updated their schedule - While there is a tropical storm in the area, east of the Panama Canal, the arrival date still shows 10-11. PKL - It looks like you moved through the canal just in time.

Maybe the Platinum Ray will speed up like the Grand Venus & you'll get your car early. GV isn't supposed to be at Panama until Friday but it looks like they are putting the pedal to the metal.

I show that ship arriving in Baltimore on October 2. It won't go through the canal unless the crew gets a yearning for bananas. Only the ships loaded with beautiful vehicles destined for the west coast go through the canal. BTW, your ship is listed as a "chemical tanker". Do some of these ships crossing between Europe and US East coast do double duty? Just curious. You're going to love your 335.

Thanks! You ought to be less than a week for getting your car. Here is the Grand Venus sailing south of the Centennial Bridge towards the Mira Flores locks -

Here's an update post before I actually go make some money to pay for this ride. Things will be a little quiet this week as the Grand Venus works her way up the Mexican coast. Scheduled to roll out her cargo on the Port Hueneme docks on October 11, she should actually be at the port on Sunday, October 9th. Will Port H let her dock early? I have no idea. If anyone knows the answer to that, please comment. A new Port H vessel schedule may come out later this week. In 2008 I picked up my 335 in Orange County about 3-4 days after the ship docked in PH so I'm guessing most of the California people should be in their vehicles between October 12 and the 17th. Here's a link to a rather dated but mostly accurate article on the VDC - http://www.bmwblog.com/2006/12/22/di...m-the-factory/

We'll find out soon if they let the Platinum Ray unload on the 4th. It looks like it gets to Port H in a few hours. Either way, I bet you get your ride in Santa Monica by the weekend. The dealers want to get their money so they don't spend much time with them. ED vehicles sometimes get hung up in customs but US sales or leases get processed pretty quick. Now, of course, the Wagoner trucking driver could spend too much time at In-n-Out on the 5 and get in after the dealership closes on Saturday or Sunday but we won't think about that. Good luck! Grand Venus still figures to arrive two days in advance (10-9) of the Port H dock schedule. Maybe they will slow down and start a poker game. |
