If you buy private, the owner can transfer remaining warranty to you.

I have just bought mine via Bavarian BMW, pics you can on the thread I have just posted.
The spec on mine is exactly what I was after. Black with black leather, M-Sport, less that 45k miles (it had 41k), heated seats, bluetooth handsfree and they replaced the grille for the Black Perfomance Grill and chucked in a full tank of fuel to get it home. I managed to knock a grand of the price and got it for 16k. Having looked around, I thought that was a good price, especially as it comes with all the benefits of buying from BMW.

That's a great deal!
So do you still get the 12month warranty? Is it much of a ballache registration wise or is it just like buying from over here, i.e. you just get your V5 sent through? Is it technically classed as an import? |

It came with V5, but its a NI version, it works in exactly the same way. Only slight hassle was that you can only tax it for the first time at your local DVLA office as the post office or phone system cant do it. Its not classed as an import. At first I wrote it off when I saw it because of where it was based and I was gutted because at the the price it has everything I wanted, even down to the 19's, but then I thought its at least worth giving them a ring and the salesman was first class to be fair and he said they sell cars to the mainland all the time. As I mention in the thread with the pics, the journey made it a long day.....but soooo worth it and Bavarian BMW helped to make it run like clockwork.

One more question I have...
One of the cars I'm looking at with 30k miles had one of it's services at a specialist independent, does this mean that I wouldn't be able to get a bmw warranty? I'm finding out which one it was, I.e. if it was an oil service only would that make a difference warranty wise? |

Problem is once the BMW used car warranty lapses, I dont think you can renew it. My own warranty ran out last week, so I renewed at £28 per month, although I have car for sale at specialist dealer. I didnt want to lose cover because I am gonna get it back at end of month if it hasnt sold!!

Apologies if the incessant questions are annoying
I really want an M Sport with iDrive but have come across what looks like a bargain locally for an SE without it. Is the difference between the two simply cosmetic/minor suspension mods? i.e. would an SE handle a JB just as easily as an M Sport? Also would a lack of iDrive deprive me of much other than being able to tell when the next services were/radio/bad nav etc? |

335I SE has Msport suspension, so it is a cosmetic thing - although cant recall is m sport seats are standard?
idrive gives telematics, concierge, send to car, and the newer ones hard drive for music etc. |

Only thing missing is nav, but it's not touch sreen. No seven digit post code search!!! And no speed camera sites. A TomTom is much better for the job really. As for the difference between SE and M Sport. It's only cosmetics. Same engine with 306 bhp. Same electric sports seats and sports suspension. Plug in a JB and enjoy

Cheers Nick, the one I'm looking at is for 13k on a 56 plate with full bmw history in quite a nice looking space grey (instead of silver) which is pretty close to the sparkling grey I like.
Was willing to spend up to 20k on a 57 onwards with the idrive and fewer miles but this might be a good option in the absence of attractive cars nearby...hmmm |

Sorry but media is more than nav. At the end of the day OP, people without it will say you dont need it, they dont use it, Tom Tom is better. At the end of the day, it is a personal choice. I cant stand having something stuck to the window, leaving a mark so theives break the windows, having wires trailing, losing signal. Media does a lot more than nav, with concierge services, weather, send to car, TMC, and the latest versions to full postcode. To be honest I never input an address anyhow - I either send straight from any pc via google, or the nice person at BMW sends to the car. I'd say it was vital for resale too - or a car without it needs to be a lot cheaper. |

Personally I would prefer an M-Sport without i-Drive over an SE with i-Drive.
I quite like how simple the non i-drive system is to use but I appreciate the i-drive offers alot more and looks better. I do think the M-Sport models look superb, especially from the front. When i bought my previous car to this, which was a 325ci e46, I didnt get an M-Sport as I was set on getting a car with full leather interior and couldnt afford an M-Sport model, but I ended up added the M-Sport bumpers in time.
