Morr VS8.2's are forged? I thought they were low pressure cast too??

Bent two 19" V710s in 9 months, from really nasty potholes

Although, its not something we can complain about with the low price, shitty roads, and aftermarket suspensions

You can bend/crack Morr's too, any wheel for that matter. A forum member did that to one of his Morr's and had a heck of a time finding a replacement wheel as the color or model (don't remember which) had been discontinued... low production/specialty wheels can be hard to replace making your cost even higher.

Seems with all the "bumps" your just trying to put down a decent product. If you think about it... the wheels new cost less than ~$250 each. At that price, it seems like a pretty safe bet. Granted you bent two of them.

I have 18" V710's and have hit plenty of potholes... some which made me cringe and never had an issue. But honestly, I'd rather bend a $250 rim than one that costs ~$1000! Which can and does happen.

It's generous that you are getting an offer for a discount, but you should vote with your money. If you don't want them, fine. Go spend the money on another wheel.

50% off for 2 bent wheels or you have to buy all 4 wheels to get 50%?

50% off is very generous, you hit the pothole not them.

No issues with my VMR and they're 19" which means less wheel protection. 50% is cool of them. 2 bent wheels? You either have bad luck, horrible roads, or driving unconscience.

I had 19 inch vmr for the longest time and I would hit a pothole almost daily from heading back home through the backroads.

it was impossible to miss cause the roads were so narrow..

never had one issue with them and they were perfect.

take the 50% and avoid hitting potholes.

DTMrack.com offers 50% off for a bent/crack wheel too.

Regardless of the quality, 50% for a bent/crack wheel replacement is a good deal.

You're lucky that you get this deal.

Sorry for the late response on this thread. I am in charge of R&D as well as production here at VMR Wheels. We will be glad to address the issue that Manu328 created here and in a duplicate thread.

Jeffrey's order for V701 18" in Matte Black was delivered on July 18th 2011. We were contacted in mid September concerning a potential quality problem. After receiving and evaluating the pictures provided, we had determined that the damage to the wheel was as a result of a pothole impact, something that is not covered by warranty.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances Jeffrey had encountered, we had offered a generous discount to which Jeffrey refused - he simply wanted the wheels to be replaced free of charge. At some point in time, Jeffrey stopped communicating with us and began to take this issue publicaly in more than a dozen different posts.

VMR Wheels conform with the quality control & testing processes issued by JWL/VIA (Japan), TUV (Germany), as well as SAE (USA). Even though 99% of our clients are 3 and 5 series owners, the wheels are overbuilt to have sufficient weight rating (1793 lbs) for installation on X5's and 7-series.

During impact testing of this particular wheel spec, a striker weighing 1471 lbs is dropped from a height of 9 inches onto a wheel & tire assembly oriented at 13 degrees. This impact simulates real world driving conditions, and in order for a wheel to "pass", it cannot crack or leak air. The idea is that the driver can safely pull off the road after impact. This test is carried out during the initial development of the wheel, and continuously through production.

I might have to add here that there exists certain other factors out of our control that may contribute to the likelihood of a wheel being damaged while driving. 1) Tire pressure. Low pressure means less protection from tires. 2) The fact that we noticed this wheel was powdercoated at an unknown facility. Wheels need to be cured at a lower temperature for longer time to ensure structural integrity- its why the cost to powdercoat can get pretty high up there because it ties up alot of oven time. Either way, we are not pointing fingers here and none of these issues were ever part of our decision making process.

At this point, we consider the issue as closed because we believe that our wheel performed as designed. If anyone has any suggestion on how we might have handled this situation better, we are all ears.

Well said Peter. It's no one but the driver's fault for crashing through a pothole at such high speeds that bend or crack. I hit them daily with coilovers and haven't had a single issue. Why would OP expect free replacements? Or even WANT them if they're so easy to break? It's just an attempt at saving money by pointing the finger... gotta pay to play. There's a balance, and VMR has been very successful at playing with the style/quality/price equation.
