of course the warranty is only for the OEM tires and wheels that came on your car.

I don't think the warranty is provided by BMW but a third party and that was why I asked and it was a serious question. Would some other insurance companies like the auto club cover aftermarket rims/tires?

So I went ahead and bought the tire and wheel warranty from DiFeo (United Auto) a month ago to the day. Today I discovered a blister on my right front tire. I only have 700 miles on the car. I'll be making a claim this week. Note that the customer service line (which must preauthorize any claims) was not available today (Sunday).

Thinking back, I probably got the blister when hitting a transition from asphalt to concrete at the entrance to the NJ Tpke exit 13A toll booth heading west on I-78.

Does anyone know how safe it is to drive on a blistered tire?

No one can really tell. Since you have the RFT, I wouldn't be too concerned. Just bring your car in tomorrow to have them replace your tire.

Yeah, I figured that the thick piece of plastic lining the sidewalls would keep the things from blowing, but you never know. I won't be driving it this week anyway. It will have to wait till next week. Thx.

If I were you I would get it. On the day of delivery for my car the manager asked if I wanted it for some unbelievably low price due to some promotion and me waiting there for a while before my CA came back from somewhere, but I declined thinking "I'll NEVER need this"

Honest to God, not 2 minutes after I left their driveway I got a flat tire warning and when I got home their was 0 tire pressure but no nail in the tire just a hole. Needless to say I forked over $450 for a new tire.

You never know when you can curb your wheel either so for me, next time it's a no brainer.

We sell it for 599-699 here depending on term. I did not have it at first paid over 1000 for 2 new rims and tires. The I purchased it and they are replacing my tire for the 2nd time because of a bubble in the sidewall. I wish I would have just bought it from the beginning. Live and learn I guess. It also is worth it because I have the 18" 162's.

Didn't realize this insurance covers the rims too. How much rim "damage" is required to file a claim? Bent rims covered? Curb scratches?

On a related note, I had a nail in the tire on the MINI earlier this month (also uses RFT). Local tire shop removed the nail, patched the tire (from inside), remounted, rebalanced for $14.75.
