I saw the 1m in your guys dyno database. That car makes more tq on stage 1, than stage 2+ cars make!!! 429lbs to be exact. Was that on a mustang dyno?

Hmm, perhaps i'll run this stage 2+FMIC without a FMIC. Maybe i'll get one good pull in, why not? I cannot be the first whos thought about running it that way. Anyone else?

This is a rather large firmware upgrade: 41MB. Is it recommended to uninstall and re-install the tune from the car?

@Cobb: I tried the ST stage 2+ aggressive tonight. I can feel a huge difference from the linear-throttle map which is great.

However, I experienced throttle closures on both maps can you explain why? (strangely the most throttle closures I experienced is on 5th gear 80% pedal accelerating from 100km/h around 3K RPM)

Log it. Send it to Cobb. That's the best way to get things resolved.

Also, I've learned the hard way that it is good to uninstall the tune from the car and reinstall it any time there is a firmware update. I've seen weird issues with my car such as the climate control fan turning on on its own and driver side mirror folding all the way down on its own. All of these were resolved by uninstalling and re-installing the tune....

ehh, maybe I'm too used to the linear mapping. The stock throttle mapping is a little too sensitive for my taste. May be for some, but not for me. flashing back

I noticed two things with these new maps:

Exhaust got a little quieter around town and the maps took far less time to load onto the car.

Great work! It's really awesome that European cars are now officially supported.

Would you mind answering two questions:

1) If I change from my current GIAC stage 2 flash to COBB, would it be recommended to have the car flashed back to stock at the dealer? I assume this would result in me being able to download the OEM flash and re-install it later, if necessary, and that with the latest BMW software. Or is it sufficient to have the generic map that is apparently used with cars that are already tuned?

2) When do you expect that dedicated methanol maps as well as maps for upgraded turbos will be available - will much additional R&R be necessary for these?

I don't think you need to return to stock prior to flashing with COBB. You can simply overwrite your existing DME but obviously won't be able to return to GIAC S2 but they do have stock maps.

As far as divorcing the COBB completely, I'm not sure if you'll be able to use COBBs stock maps or if you need to use what was supposedly dumped during initial installation.

dont take my answers for gold but:
1) yes i would flash it stock at the dealer but better to wait for COBB on this. I know you have the issue that you need to send the ECU away...

2) They are getting RB turbos installed on a car in the coming weeks so many good maps will be available soon (ths stock maps work great beside the high rpm tapering).
They have beta race maps out that some people like themyst are testing so thats close as well.
I use jb4 for meth now and it works really good plus gives their gauges etc.

I clarified this with Cobb when switching from Dinan. They recommend having the car flashed back to stock, however it is certainly not necessary. In my case, the dealer was charging too much to flash back to stock. I went ahead and reflashed over the Dinan tune without concerns. If I uninstall the Cobb AP, it will place a stock like map in the DME. Since it is a generic map and not 100% what the DME expects, it may leave a shadow code without any impact to driveability. I didn't feel this was a concern.

Flashed to the Stage 2+ stock throttle map last night and had a perma-boner on the drive in this morning. I'm going to have to explain to my co-workers that it's just an optical illusion from the pleats in my pants a la Ron Burgundy.

I am definitely a stock throttle guy opposed to linear. I love to feel that on command power. I noticed what I am assuming is waste gate rattle after installing my AR DP's and flashing to Stage 2+ linear but it seemed to have either gone away after flashing to the Stage 2+ stock throttle map. As another member posted, I also noticed that my exhaust didn't seem quite as loud.
