The only thing I can think of is that my car was not warmed up enough, and the turbo's where being held back.
Not sure about you, but I also run around with an extra 50+ lbs. of my work stuff in my trunk (although I wouldn't think that could slow me down too much). I just think it's more about getting traction and a decent launch, especially from 0-60mph; then, it's more about weight, gearing, HP, and TQ. A stock 335i running against a stock IS350 would be very close with a slight edge to the 335i...much more of a driver's race.

A PROcede 335i definitely beats a stock IS350, but again, it's more about getting a decent launch; then, once you get into 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear, you'd be leaving the IS350 in your wake (even if you were behind for the first ~ 60mph or so). :rocks: From a roll, a stock IS350 wouldn't stand a chance against a PROcede 335i with ~ 440+ lb.-ft. TQ.

Today, with the Charger SRT-8 and I, we were pretty even and then I began to pull ahead by 1 CL in 3rd gear. I know with a better launch, I probably would've been ahead by 1+ CLs the entire way; i.e. he wouldn't have been able to stay with me at all.

Nice kill.

I recently picked up a brand spanking new '07 Maggie SRT-8 for $27,500. MSRP was over $39K, so I got a sweet deal.

It's definitely not as sexy or symbolic as the 335i, but it's a fun little sleeper that has tons of room for hauling just about anything.

I ran it bone stock at Raceway Park here in Englishtown, NJ and it's best run out of 5 passes was a 12.87@110.23. Stock airbox and filter, stock air pressure in the tires, etc. I realize my ET and trap is a little faster than the norm for these cars, but there are others on the SRT-8 forums that have trapped 110 or higher bone stock. I attribute this to my aggressive engine break-in method along with the fact that Raceway Park is a sea level track which is one of the faster tracks in the country.

What are some of the fastest times recorded for stock 335Is? Have any dipped into the 12's stock?

Lastly, if anybody is in the NYC/Westchester County/Northern NJ/CT area and wants to do some pulls, PM me! I'd love to see how my Maggie stacks up against the competition! So far my only race has been against an E46 M3 which had an intake, exhaust, and chip. He had no passengers and I had a 200lb one. He jumped me ever so slightly on every race and I would pull him ever so slightly, although on a few runs we were dead even or he had me by 1/2 car when we shut down.

Here's the link to the video for those interested:

Marc,

Stock 335i's are running 13.4-13.6 @ ~ 105mph 1/4 mi., but PROcede 335i's are running 12.5 - 12.8 sec. @ 108-111mph 1/4 mi. Your Magnum SRT-8 does sound very fast for those cars...nice numbers and Welcome to E90Post.com! :rocks:

Wow, talk about a car responding well to a single modification! That chip sounds like a blast. How much more boost does it run over stock? And how much are these companies getting for it?

On a stock SRT-8, a $500 chip seems to be worth 0 to 5 horsepower.

The GT500's reported 0-60 times are slightly higher than procede times. And I'm going to take a stab here and say the GT500's tranny wasn't built for high speeds (much above the 100mph mark). It may pull slightly ahead, but with a tuned 335i with procede and exhaust you'll give it a hell of a race @ ~400HP. Ford really builds sloppy engines.

The Shelby GT500 won't beat a new Z06 corvette stock.

We go from around 6-8 psi to around 12-14psi, and they sell for $500-$1300. 12.8 is nice for a SRT8, much faster than I thought they were.

ECU Chip reflashes and piggyback computers (like the PROcede and XEDE for the 335i) increase HP/TQ in a F/I twin turbo car (like the 335i) much more (exponentially) than in a N/A car (like your 6.2L Hemi V8-powered Magnum SRT-8). My car dyno'd the following:

stock:

265WHP / 286 lb.-ft RWTQ

XEDE (and now PROcede, which should be even a little more):

322WHP (~ 380 BHP) / 378 lb.-ft RWTQ (~ 445 lb.-ft TQ) -- +57WHP / +92 lb.-ft RWTQ

btw -- the 335i weighs just under 3,600lbs., almost 500 lbs. less than the Charger SRT-8.

The PROcede piggyback computer (www.vishnutuning.com) is $1,300 with a ~ 30 min. DIY install...many E90Post.com 335i drivers now have the PROcede, which is why this guy in the '07 Charger SRT-8 had no idea what he was in for when he challenged me today.

The Maggie weighs 150-200lbs more than the Charger so it's an even wider margin when compared to the 335i. But the flip side is the Maggie is cheaper (no gas guzzler tax), it's much more useful since it's a wagon with tons of space, and it's much more of a sleeper. Plus, I don't have to worry about getting pulled over all the time in it.

I really want to run a chipped 335i now to see how I stack up. I wonder what they're trapping at at my local sea level tracks such as Atco, E-town, and Island?

I'm going to be doing an intake, exhaust, and high flow cats soon. That should put me at around 400rwhp and trap in the low to mid teens. :rocks:

A PROcede 335i ran 12.56 sec. @ 108.75mph (with a 1.692 sec. 60 ft.) at the ATCO track (but he did have DRs as well). Unless the 335i has the PROcede AND exhaust, it will most likely trap ~ 108-110mph with just the PROcede at a sea-level track; I think the fastest 1/4 mi. trap on a PROcede + exhaust 335i has been 111mph (Shiv's car), but I'm not 100% sure. Here's the thread for max boost's run at ATCO...

Where did Shiv make his passes? Was it at Sacramento? Because I've heard of some abnormally fast trap speeds coming out of that track...

I love the SRT-8 Mag! Reminds me of the old Nomads. As a kid in the Seventies I built many a Nomad plastic car model.

With regards to the lexus IS350...

I raced one stock on stock....I usually drive US1 down here in south florida if anyone is familiar with the area. Saw him scooting around at about 60 or 70 (speed limit 45) so I figured id blow by him at 100 to let him know I wanted some. At the red light he smoked his tires, must be a really pissy guy lol... and we raced....I had him by about 1/2 car length, although he was probably MT and I'm AT...I stopped racing him when he was changing lanes and cutting traffic off and caused a wreck at 120 mph, I guess some people have no regards for their lives or for that of others.

They don't make the IS350 with manual transmission, as far as I know....

I raced my friend's IS350 twice from 0-80 and pulled about 3-4 car lenghts on him. I have a Turbo Tuner tough...

The IS350 is the newer "chick" lexus correct? I'm not all good on transmissions, sorry. I've had some good races, to date only been beat by an STI and a ferrari...which is by no means shameful lol

My race was rolling from about 20, he did jump in front of me because I did not realize we where racing, but it took me a bit to pass him.

Im going just say it was DTC was on and the car's oil temp was not warm enough.

A few friends who have ran there several times swear up and down that the traps in the right lane are 3-4mph higher than the left.

+1, no manual tranny and no coupe offered. Only rumors. If they had one, I may (and I say may) have gone a different path.
