I was hoping never to see this happen again. Red headlights are a clear givaway. I'm sorry to tell you this, but your car is posessed.

As soon as humanely possible, hire an exorcist. Be prepared for spurting oil, rotating headlights, and levitation.

I see this quite a lot here in Sweden, HID bulbs gone bad! I just smile to my self and thank that I have got halogens with Philips extreme vision. Mine cost only 30 Euros and they last a long time. I wonder how much that HID guy is going to pay for his bulbs!

Haha, indeed.

Anyways, the bulb I got from Advanced Auto parts is the Sylvania D1S, it's rated for 4150k, and BMW OEM are suppose to be 4300k, however the Sylvania looks way less than 4150k, it looks to be in the 3000k range they are noticeably more yellow.

So unless there is burn in time, where the bulb will get brighter I either have to replace the passenger side with the same bulb (which I don't want to because it's yellow) or get new bulbs. If anyone can recommend me a good pair of 6000k or 8000k bulbs I'd appreciate it. At this point, I'm just going to say fuck it and replace both sides.

Looks like your car needs clear eyes for the red eye.

*Crickets?* Bad joke huh? *drums in the background* =(

Sorry I'm no help. Hope you solve your problem.

Hello, I have a 2008 528i, the passenger low beam went "red" for couple of days (the high beam still worked) and then burnt out. One thing I noticed is that both of the passenger low and high beams are out. Is this typical (i.e., when one is low out, the high does not work?) or have both of them gone out? Driver side light are still ok and the outline of the halo's still light up on both sides.

Thanks in advance.

If you have bixenon lights (which you do), the low and high beam light is produced by the same bulb, in the same projector. A shield just moves out of the way to let more light out--see this video for a quick explaination

TLDR, if your low beam bulb goes out on a bixenon projector, the high goes out too, because it's the same bulb producing the light.

its a simple HID bulb replacement of D1S, i have personally seen pink many many times, not red however. installation guides are available via our website.

There is burn in time. They start yellow and "cool down" as they burn in. I think the manual even covers this. Never had to replace one myself.

My E90 is bi-xenon, which means the same Xenon lamp is used for low and high beam and a shutter changes where the light shines.
