I just installed the Mtec H8 LED today myself. I originally had the LUX installed now I am replacing them with Mtec's. I took pictures to compare the 2. The driver side is the Mtec and the passenger side is LUX. I tried to take the pictures at the same angle but I cannot do that perfectly.

Personally the differences between the 2 is not much. Mtec appears to be a little whiter than the LUX (7000k vs 6500k so that wound make sense). Brightnesswise I do not see a big difference even though Mtec seems to be a bit brighter but once again, the difference is not much. Another consideration is I have the LUX LED for more than 6 months so that may lower the performance of the bulb comparing to the brand new Mtec. Pay close attention to the outside ring and the vertical lines on the lens in the middle of the inside ring (Mtec is brighter in fact it's so bright that the brightness obscures the lines on the lens comparing to LUX where you can still see the lines on the lens because it's not as bright).

Both brands have 4 LEDs but you can see the designs are different. Both are well built with good solid quality. LUX is made in the US (that's what the label says). Mtec....not sure (can't find it mentioning anywhere; ??Japan vs China vs elsewhere??) Prices are almost the same (about mid $200 range) and both are easy to install.

Please see an update pic under the sun (comparing Mtec and LUX after using Mtec for couple of months)

Interesting, but what makes these so different than the new BMW's that have the LED Angel eyes? I have the Lux 2nd generation, but why is the OEM BMW LED's so much better? Is it because of the corona rings themself?

They almost look purple when in person, they are extremely bright, and they are equal in light output. The inner circle is just as bright as the outer circle.

I've always wondered this and could never figure it out. I started noticing the new updated angel eyes on BMW's in early 2011.

It appears that BMW's new LED andel eyes design has different setup. Each ring has its own light source instead of having one H8 bulb for 2 rings. It looks like there are 2 powerful LED bulbs for each ring so they are very very bright. Hope I could retro fit the new headlight housing on my e92 M3 but I know it won't fit because the shape is different.

Do you get any flicker when turning the car on for either of them? I read if you keep it on auto it sometimes resolves the problem on the Lux

Update:

After using Mtec H8 LED for couple of months I wonder if Mtec is better or LUX is better. So today, I reinstalled LUX to the driver side and put my car under the sun to do a comparison:

I took the pic with Nikon D90 without flashlight and without any picture modification.

You can see the outer ring is brighter on the drive side (LUX) comparing to the passenger side (Mtec). In person, I can tell the difference also even though Mtec is whiter comparing to LUX.

So guess what, I am switching back to LUX, period.

Bumping an old thread, but I'm trying to decide between the LUX or the MTec.

Based on what Marc and Suprafrank are saying, the LUX are brighter. However, this doesn't seem to make sense. While the designs are not exactly the same, the placement of the LEDs are in very similar positions (almost exactly the same). However, the MTEC generates over 900lumens, while the LUX generate "well over 800 lumens" as they say on their website. Based on the lumens and similarity in LED placement, it would seem that the MTech should actually be brighter. Any thoughts/comments on this?

But what about the Lux V3? If the Lux V3 give me problems then I guess MTEC it is.

I see that now lol. I think i may have been the cause of starting this up originally with my resale of my MTECs in the private section classified.

Hi E92-Lighting, I see you sell a lot of kinds of Angels, and you also have the Lumen meter, how about putting on your site some tests, to help buyer to choose the best emitter?
What is the most powerful h8 angel today?
thanks
