He did mention "I came back outside in time to see it clear my car by about 2 inches..."
They have total disregard even if his car is on the driveway. If there's a space, it's a space for their car to back out.

Yeah, I read that part, but he wasn't necessarily trying to block the driveway. |

You asked them nicely and they are still being assholes about it? Stop being nice. Tell them that when they use YOUR lawn and YOUR driveway that they are trespassing. And tell them the you would rather not get the police involved. They'll stop.

I would place nails in the grass so they are sticking up like a spike strip. They will get the point, no need to go over and let them know they were driving on your property, they will probably knock on your door first.

this is texas.....go outside, gun in hand. problem...solved? i would tell them that "enough is enough, i understand that times have been tough with the health etc, but you CANNOT be cutting across the lawn on to my drive way. It needs to stop. I dont want to have any issue between us because we are neighbors but i cant sit by and let this continue to go on." |

I recall a guy in my old neighborhood having the same problem with people using his driveway to make a U-Turn (end of Cu l-de-sac) and overrunning his lawn corner and crushing his sprinkler heads.
He installed a couple of short pieces of steel angles like these at each corner of the lawn at start of his driveway and it solved the problem. Last edited by Tondtar; 01-20-2012 at 03:12 AM.. |

OP: stop being a pushover. You ALREADY HAVE bad relations with your neighbor. You are not happy, correct? It starts with you, get some self respect and grow a backbone. C'mon man, if you don't respect yourself, then nobody, especially your ignorant, bully neighbors, will respect you. Besides, who cares if they get bent out of shape? Build a barrier, and install a kicka$$ camera system, and if they do anything stupid, get the cops involved, post it on YouTube, and post it on this forum. Strength in numbers, right? I'm not a lawyer, but I would think that the law is on your side if you erect a barrier of some sort (bushes, roses, tomatoes, whatever!). |

they sell triangular stones that are used for just this, my neighbors at the end of the block use them to keep people in the elementary school across from parking in their grass
worst case scenario, you're white, they are black, sprinkle some crack on them and call the cops |

Alternatively, just start parking in their driveway Maybe they'll begin to understand boundaries. |

The best way to stop this BS is to install a 6' fence along the property line, so you don't even have to see them when you get into your car in the morning.
Cheap way to do it is to plant a line of small perennial trees (few feet tall) on the grass area. Space them close enough so a car can't fit in between them. |
