Ive used red dot grooved/drilled discs. The amount of brake dust they thew out was staggering. Pissed me off as my wheels where always black.

Cheers mate.
I actually have those dimpled and slotted EBCs on my car and have for a while.
The runout was quite bad out of the box - the parts themselves not the installation.
But as I had a small degree also in the hubs I had them turned on the car just for perfection, and they have been extremely good since.

The flutes do make them 'whoosh' quite a lot when pulling up, and they tick very slightly too during running (not becuase of runout, because of chattering the pads due to the slots I believe).

To the poster further up - I do actually know an accident investigator.
He is happy to pull and ECU for professional analysis if required, so you are kidding if you don't think it happens.
Unlikely, but I have had a disc crack circumfrentially - like a giant washer - on a VW once.
Its bloody scary when parts fail for no real reason.

Steve, do you mean the 'turbo groove' ones? (talk about cheesy names)

Any chance of a pic now they're run in?

Superficial I know, but I can't quite imagine how they look under a wheel on a 335i as the advert pics are all still galvanised gold and on small diameter models.

The gold coating has to be cleaned off before use.

Had ebc turbo discs on a previous car with green stuff pads. Probably the pads at fault but braking was worse than standard and irritating because of the noise.

Had loads of stress cracks through a set of standard ebc discs too.

The black discs the OP has mentioned also lose the black coating on the braking surface.

The gold coating is zinc galvanising isn't it?

Surely this will wear off on the breaking surface (like the black coatings), you can't clean it off?

It's just a coating to stop corrosion.

The instructions said to remove using white spirit before use as not to contaminate pads.

Thanks mate for heads up!

The one you put on your car, was that on beamer or on VW?
So one of them cracked.

Well its not worthy to have them if they can crack?

Not for the sake of argument, but just for knowing more, what is your take on accident investigator blaming these discs and pads responsible for accident. How likely is it for them to blame these discs, and how likely is it for us to challenge it?

I guess I must stay away from these EBC brakes.

Cheers.

They didn't last long at all. The fade was very bad on them with green stuff pads. It was their standard solid discs.

Wallace performance made a mess of the order and sent solid discs. My other brakes were needing replaced and I didn't have time to ship back and wait for replacements.

My settings are different than 300mm.
Do you have 320i or Si?
Let us know how you get on with these mtec one.
Please do a good review initially and then 6 months after.
Cheers.

Mine is the 320i, so is 300mm correct?

Garage List
I've ordered a full set of Disks and pads from mTech for my 335i and the disks look to pretty good quality wise. I went for grooved only ones all round as having drilled and grooved looks a bit naff to me for some reason. Each to their own really. Yet to fit them but hopefully get that job done at the end of the week.
