You need a new code each upgrade.

My small brain can't cope with this - how come some random bloke in Euro land can generate a trustworthy code for my specific car that changes each time I want to update my maps, when those maps have come form a separate equally random internet source? It just seems a sure fire way of introducing a virus to your cars Hard Drive.

The maps are an exact copy of those that are available from the dealer. To load them into a car you need code which is calculated from your chassis number and the map version you are trying to load. Therefore, using that code you can load the same maps as many times as you wanted but when a newer version of maps came out, with a different version number, you would need to generate a new code.

Thanks fulcrum, did you just have to supply him with your chassis ID number? Also does anyone have part numbers for the nav discs?
