From what i have read, the tuning that would be done in this shop wouldn't do anything for the issues we have seen with carbon and injectors going bad. Am I right saying that? Is it just about performance or is it about reliability too?? (Strictly thinking about the Tune, not the exhaust hardware change).
Other question i have is if one was to do such a tune, what would one need to watch out for in the future regarding service. Is there a risk that routine maintenance at the dealer would undo the tune? |

I'm getting the tune this Wednesday with Jarek at JR Auto. I will also be adding the "Spider Boot" to my DDE. This is a chip that bypasses the encryption on the DDE and allows future tuning/tweaks to be done from the OBD, meaning you're not pulling the DDE out again. "My Personal Flasher" (MPF) is also something that can be added in the future. Jarek almost has that aspect figured out too.
Click on "Products" after the link below to view the "Spider Boot" and "MPF" features: Link |

*Newer cars equipped with tuning protected ECU’s such as EDC17 or MED17 along with other models require direct access to the ECU board which must be removed, opened and programmed on the bench. Has this been confirmed to work on the encrypted 335d? Hope so. Please keep us posted.

The initial code requires the DDE to be removed. After that subsequent codes can be applied without removing the DDE.
Initial decryption needs to be done on directly with the DDE on a bench. I believe you are bound to use the same coder and base code. |

Not sure to be honest and might be a question for the tuner and spiderboot themselves. |

It's not the dealer, Its BMW corporate, anything not to pay, especially on the 335D, they already hate these cars at the stealership...
